Was the Shuriken change intentional?
Regular Shuriken's (pack of 3) used to be "thrown only" and could not be used to cut a throat or stab.

Now that Bat-Shuriken (pack of 3) is released I noticed that both it and the original Shurikens can now be used like any other knife, not just thrown only (and are still both packs of 3)

Does anyone know if this change was recorded in any of the update patch notes?

I have to wonder if this was an accidental change since it now makes either Shuriken a functionally better choice than any other bladed starting melee weapon since you get 3 instead of one (where as the trade off before was the Shurikens could only be thrown)

Nice obervation. It only made sense to be able to use them for melee. So now, as you said, it's better to have 3. The batarangs are a direct resking, right? Everything else is the same?

At the moment yes, the Bat Shuriken is identical in function to the originals.

I don't think the change actually makes much sense though. They shouldn't be stabbing weapons.

It actually worked this way for about a month before the halloween updates started. I noticed it while trying to do old escalations back in september by complete accident, ruined my silent assassin rating.

Interesting to know this wasn't changed today, but I still can't find any record of the change (and this wouldn't be the first time something was accidentally changed and later changed back)

I posted to the main forums as well, I just want to know if this is something they are going to reverse soon before I start making contracts using the change. If they were to revert it later, those contracts would be broken.

I'm not sure if it would break contracts though, wouldn't throwing it or using it to stab still count as using the same weapon either way?

No, contracts keep track of melee weapons as either melee or thrown separately. And originally the shuriken could not melee, it could only be thrown

It now does keep track separately like any other melee weapon when I tested it, but if they revert it to thrown only, the contracts made with it as melee instead of thrown would not be able to 5 star
