At the moment yes, the Bat Shuriken is identical in function to the originals.
I don't think the change actually makes much sense though. They shouldn't be stabbing weapons.
Interesting to know this wasn't changed today, but I still can't find any record of the change (and this wouldn't be the first time something was accidentally changed and later changed back)
I posted to the main forums as well, I just want to know if this is something they are going to reverse soon before I start making contracts using the change. If they were to revert it later, those contracts would be broken.
No, contracts keep track of melee weapons as either melee or thrown separately. And originally the shuriken could not melee, it could only be thrown
It now does keep track separately like any other melee weapon when I tested it, but if they revert it to thrown only, the contracts made with it as melee instead of thrown would not be able to 5 star
