Session: Skate Sim

Session: Skate Sim

Statistiken ansehen:
It's not skateboarding without grabs.
Other types of tricks are maybe debatable, but grab tricks are foundational.
You can take almost any skate video. Remove any clips involving grabs. And then notice how bland the video feels.
Grab tricks should not have been considered something that could be removed from the game.

Depends on the type of Skateboarding your into. Many don't ever bother with Grabs. All personal preference.

But yes, it would be nice if they finish these off and bring them back.

session feels more like a street skating name, not vert.

Still, you gotta a skateboard at your feet. You should be able to do grabs, transitions and liptricks just like any other flat trick. It's not a skateboarding "sim" (what they claim themselves to be making) without more than half of the mechanics and tricks expected of the title and genre. It's like flight simulator not having landings/take offs or a racing sim not having manual gear/clutch or something. It's simply unacceptable.

If they at least fixed all the other glaring issues (broken physics, missing animations, bugs and glitches galore) the game still has since bloody day one, maybe we could excuse the lack of some features. But in the state the game is in right now, it feels completely abandoned and unpolished. There's no excuse for this kind of incompetence and malpractice.

Grabs aren't exclusive to vert skating and there is vertical transition in multiple maps. There is also a actual vert ramp in FDR map.

I like the idea of adding a no comply but not grabs
Believe me, I spent a lot of time in skater xl and they quickly get boring

But there are no vert maps, so your point is mute.

LMAO at the very concept that grabs aren't for street skating. Yeahhh uh. Pretty much every pro does grabs. STFU. What an idiotic and lame attempt at an excuse for not having grabs.
And no complies. Our skate shop is named No Comply and we can't even freakin do one? WTAF. Seriously.
I don't even bother playing updates any more. It's always just fluff. I don't even remember how many months it's been since I last played it.
When I hear they've put in grabs, good transition and pumping and lip tricks, wall rides (oh wait, sk8 kiddies don't do wall rides, right), foot plants ...
It's currently a flippy-trick game.
I regret supporting it in early access.

PAM likes to repeat themselves. Maybe they should venture out and expand their vocabulary.

What are you talking about? Why would there even be a only vert map? The excuse that the game is street skating only doesn't work if there are maps that have a lot of transition/vert. I mean why even add half assed transition or grabs in the first place during EA if they aimed for street skating only. They even took people's money in the Kickstarter to include vert.

Ive been skating since I was 3 years old. Ive been watching pros from Rodney Mullin to Andy Anderson. Ive yet too see, let alone meet, someone who is serious about skating doesnt at least semi regularly do grabs. Its a very curious omission. I dont feel as passionate about it as some other people here, but the idea that "grabs dont belong in street skating" is the most brain dead opinion of heard in a hot minute. Also, in the default control scheme, the bumpers are right there, doing nothing. Seems like an obvious choice to have them control your hands.

It's disappointing I can't do a boneless yet or a grab down the stairs. All I can do is flips and sometimes I can get a grind or slide to work on really low obstacles. It seems too hard for me to line up perfectly for a grind.
I just don't understand why some people immediately dismiss it because Session is about street skating, not vert skating... even though they've always intended to implement vert and grabs were an experimental feature long before we had any sort of vert mechanics.

I also don't understand what's so wrong with doing a grab on a gap. From what I understand, grabs aren't a one-trick pony you only do on vertical transitions. I thought skateboarding was about freedom of expression, not strict rules about what one can and cannot do on flat or gaps.

Alas, they seem to have abandoned grabs when they removed them entirely with the "1.0" release, so I wouldn't count on them coming back :sadbs:
Nobody here has dismissed grabs, no one here has said they don't belong in the Sim, no one here is against them...

The Game is aimed more at Street Skating, that's obvious. The Game [although claiming to be a full release] is still well in Development, so if they continue to Develop as they should, Grabs will eventually come back.

I'm not entirely sure on what the reason they were removed as I wasn't a player at that stage, but from some Video's I've seen, personally, they didn't really look all that great, so a lot more work was needed.

However, just because there are some Ramps in the Game, doesn't mean they SHOULD be in the Game right this second. A Ramp doesn't mean a Grab needs to be performed 100% of the time, they are not exclusive to Grabs only, and they work well enough on the Maps we have to whip around and do a couple tricks before moving on.

I've mentioned in other Topics that the current Developers remaining don't seem to have much Development skills, as seen by their "revamp of the item dropper", which is total trash. If they can't code something like that to be more useful and player friendly, I highly doubt they could work on actual Content in a Sim where Realism is at it's finest.

I'm still trying to remain hopeful that Nacon will wake up to themselves and realize what they have destroyed when they took over, but time will tell on that.

Again though, no one here has stated they shouldn't be in the Game.

Believe me, I spent alot of time in it doing it as well, and they dont. Skating rails all the time is boring. Sessions > xl but dont speak for everyone like that. I think vert skating is way cooler, skater xl just sucks. If this game had grabs id spend hours trying to set up a 900 i promise you

They still have the same main programmer that started the company with Mah and is responsible for most of the coding in the game. So he definitely should have the skills to further develop the features in the game.
