but imma swoop in and flat out say im gonna gate keep skateboarding here.
this is some magical gimmic ♥♥♥♥ you are talking about. yes, its possible. yes people can do it.
but to add something like that to a skateboarding game because .01% of skateboarders have control over it. thats what makes it un realistic.
that would be like wanting an indy game developer to add the ability to throw shotgun shells in the air and catch them and rack the barrel. yes, this is a thing people can do.
but its such a gimmic that its not worth adding to the game.
im literally struggling to find any other type of extreme gimmick that other types of games or simulators could/would add for very specific scenarios.
but i must also agree with you that plenty of skateboarding games ive played ive done what youve said and still road away to the best of the games ability. from skate to session to SXL even thrasher skate and destroy.
where you "bail" the trick. but your feet still land on the board and you ride away rag doll for a few seconds. should in theory be a land. so i 100% see where you are coming from.
amazing idea, great concept. but man the guy responsible for coding that would probably run out of Green mushrooms if you catch my drift.
stand close to a curb and push can result in a fall, thats meh.
I'm sure the code is not that hard, but if it is I'm sure coding challenging concepts is part for the joy of creating a game.
If (board in vasinity of feet and feet try catch) {
Catch board
}else bail.
But is also see where you are coming from.
If this feature was added it would not draw back from the game but would only add cool moments.
Even if the cool moments were only flukes they would still be cool. Especialy with the replay ability.
I still stand by my suggestions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For 1. That would be cool!
The skateboard is already full physic so that would be possible.
But problem is the skater itself. It needs some procedural animation, but studio hasn't any animator rn.
Let's hope they find an animator that suit their vision.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For 2. Tbh, I'm not found of the idea.
The idea is cool, but I'm not down with the use case.
Since, all diy objects are ready to go within the boundaries, it's really usefull for objects that spawned within the map.
It could ruin part of the sim, the spirit of a spot, and IRL and it's really about workin with what is there.
If someone would take the time to bring such object really far away, it would be cool af. Like that battle between cities aroung AVE Bench. IRL it's such a pain in the ass. I'm not expecting for a sim to ease such things.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Btw https://discord.gg/session is the place
2. The boundary is indeed annoying. idk why the object dropper works like that, but the video editting tool sure doesn't. Can't count the times I went off the play area with the video editting tool to see how the NYC maps connect.
I had their email, but that was year ago. Your best bet right now would be their official Discord server. Just keep in mind that that server is a bit of an echo chamber, so be mindful of what you suggest and how you go about it.
Regarding the character animation. When the player is in the air and the board is doing some trick, the player is in an animation state. But at the moment when the board hits part of the map the player goes directly into bail animation even though the player has not hit anything. All I'm saying is that the bail animation should not happen untill the player hits the map, and should also have the possibility to catch the board if chance allows it, in my opinion no extra animation is needed, just a continuation of the player "in air animation" .
I see where you are coming from. But I like to build mega ramps out of the objects that are arround the map including using things bought from the skate shop. But this can take a really long time. In it's current state.
In another comment you said you don't think the code is that difficult, to which I say... have you seen coding? Stuff like this sounds so simple when we're the ones playing instead of making the game, but sometimes the most simple-looking things in a game can take programmers a lot of time to get right.
But if you think that's something you can do, it seems like they're looking for an additional programmer. Get in there, tiger! https://www.crea-turestudios.com/careers/game-programmer/
Problem is that the game is not tested with those, so idk what could that break, tho it could be more about performance and pc spec to run such.
But a dude stream a day long stream building a whole skatepark in a map with only diy!!!!
Yeah, I know there is a lot to do still, but would it not be cool?
All I'm hoping for is that it gets added to the list.
Also I am not much of a coder only some arduino. So I'm not sure how much help I would be.
Follow me on twitch (youremotionz) and we can make it happen, just counted most of the furniture in all the maps. and it seems like SanFran with the Piers is the best map.
