i get the devs removed the good radio stations to make the game more pg13 on release or whatever, but now we are left with 1 reggae station that is sorta ok and 2 stations of zoomer lofi auto tune crap. if you are gonna take away my beats, at least gimme the option to link my spotify or something so i can blast my own.

What's stopping you from just running spotify while playing the game?

still was better with the early access music.... and i find it more immersive to have music running ingame instead of having to tab out and switch music

you're not wrong there. But the music collection was rather limited to begin with.

Also, instead of tabbing out of game get your phone and switch tracks on there. Just like you would do outdoors, I guess. ^^

I'd love to have som lofi or old school hip hop running while playing Session.

This.

There's a legit argument to be made about the removal of the EA radio stations, but there's also no excuse not to turn off the game music and play whatever you want on Spotify.

There are even Session playlists on there that include a bunch of the EA songs. They might no longer be in the game, but you can still listen to them while playing.

Try this: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1Jtxih1yBSbRMwVo3QUBX9?si=6af2d43b991e415d

And if you're not a Spotify user like me, you can even play music through Youtube, just search up for example "Skating Playlist" and wam, you have a bunch of songs to Skate to, or just create your own.

Whining about a very minor problem that you can easily solve yourself just makes you look like a fool.

or get UMX Player & blast the original Unreal Tournament soundtrack in its original format.
or open Tidal & listen to lossless audiophile-grade mixes
You can do whatever the hell you want, you're playing on a PC

it just feels half assed to play a full release skating game with no proper soundtrack. especially if it used to have one pre-release. i am fully aware i can do my own 3rd party fixes.

A licensed soundtrack = licencing costs, which means more money spent there is less than can be spent on development. If the music was removed, it's probably due to things like the publisher's licence to include that music expiring with either no option to renew, or the financial cost of doing so not being something they could justify at the time.
We don't know the cost or the terms. It could be the rights holder to the music no-longer wanted it included in the product. Could be the licence was given for free while the studio was indie but no-longer now they have a publisher. Or the studio while independent was happy to pay the licence cost then but the publisher isn't happy to foot that bill now. We just don't know, but the old playlists are still up on Spotify at least.

Under a large AAA publisher in games with large development & marketing budgets this stuff is almost trivial (until it comes to maintaining GTA radio stations 10 years later), but for small devs & publishers, it's significant.

It has a proper soundtrack. Some people don't like any of the songs currently in the game, but that doesn't make it any less of a soundtrack.

All of the songs currently in the game are licensed, so it stands to reason that they removed many of the EA songs due to a change in direction. One thing OP said that holds a lot of truth is the possibility that those stations were removed in order to meet certain rating standards. The game is rated PEGI 12 here in the UK, which wouldn't be the case if many of those songs were still in the game.

The difference Nacon made is that they now call the shots, as they own crea-ture. It makes sense financially to not have a sports game be rated anything that could keep parents from buying it for their young kids.

i miss the old stations too :| especially rumcom
Kussin Oct 26, 2023 @ 4:45am
they removed "Rum Committee - Winning I" and other tracks of them. So sad.
Rum Commitee is a blast and a top notch choice imo

Games in the UK get stricter ratings because of THE MUSIC?

Because of lyrics. The same applies to ESRB in the US where 'strong language' can land it an 'M' rating. Could be the publisher decided between being a 'mature' rated sports game or being a game that parents might pick up for their kids, they'd choose the 2nd option.
