Wooden Stake? doesn't work

Has anyone else encountered this? When playing a parallel universe episode, I tried using the wooden stake on Drake, but all it did was reset his health counter. Is there something I'm missing?

On Parallel World stage, if Drake is the boss, try making his health hit zero twice. I used the wooden stake and all I did was cut down half of his second life bar and then a moment later when his vampire? status was gone, I beat him. And That's all I can remember when it comes to fighting with Drake in Parallel World episode stages
