If you persevere you can play the episode where you can steal your opponents attacks, which makes for some hilarious combos, so stick with it!
The second think I would rush to upgrade is the Snake Eye Charm. Without upgrades you'll probably not find yourself using for much outside of turning useless 6s into 1s, but with an upgrade it can suddenly turn a 4, 5, or a 6 into two 1s, meaning 50% of your dice can be turned into 4 damage for basically free (assuming you also upgraded Dagger).
If you use a 1 on Lockpick it splits into two 1s, giving you an extra die. That's an extra 2 damage for free with upgraded Dagger, assuming you don't use Lockpick on a bigger value card (I usually use it on 5s or 6s). I don't find very much value in upgrading Lockpick, as your stolen attack or Snake Eye Charm can usually be used on any extra 6s that you get.
Focus on getting abilities that want Odd numbers. Even if you have just 1s, you'll still be able to use them, so they have a lot of use. One in particular that I found useful was this one that gave you a one-turn buff that reduced all incoming damage by one, but I forget what it's called.
Stolen abilities generally aren't super helpful, but you still want to keep an eye on them. Some can be very strong, especially ones that heal you. As a note, I tried silencing an enemy with its own ability, but it didn't seem to do anything; don't waste your dice on silences.
Poison can be a decent thing to have if Upgraded Dagger gets disabled (from curses or shocks), and is very helpful if you haven't found an upgrade for Dagger yet. That said, it's not a very high value card once you can start pumping out damage with Dagger, as your 1s and 2s are better spent there instead. Feel free to drop this card after upgrading Dagger if you find something notably more useful than it.
A card that helped my run specifically was Healing Crystal, which I upgraded. With upgrades, it gives a very valuable use to your 4 rolls (that being very decent healing and poison removal), which are normally not useful at all with an upgraded Dagger build, but getting this card isn't guaranteed as far as I can tell.
Awesome tips about the bump and dagger. First run after reading I beat drake.
