The developers draw a conclusion to work on something based on sales data and the number of players. Not forum posts. There have been many forum posts since 2021 that requests they continue to work on the game.
But the numbers don't lie:
The game was averaging around 2,000 concurrent players when they stopped work on it. I assume because it wasn't worth the investment. The game is now averaging about 1,000 concurrent players.[steamcharts.com] Please explain how they stopped working on it with 2,000 people but with 1,000 players it would make sense to start working on it again.
You said it yourself:
Clearly, if player counts are half of what they were when they canceled it, enough people are not playing the game to make it profitable for them.
Please argue the point above. I am not saying the game is bad, or that I don't understand the game's mechanics. The quality of the game is not in question.
Lol, so...no response to the actual argument? Instead you gaslight. I've stated in other posts a new DLC would be welcome, but you keep lying about it. I've also done nothing to burn the game. Pointing out the factual player counts isn't "burning the game." It's stating reality.
That we agree on. Unless the player counts substantially improve, I don't see any chance for a future DLC.
It would need a huge boost in player count for Paradox to pay attention to the game again and consider making new DLC. The team that developped the game is now on other projects and only a few motivated individuals worked on the patch on their free time as a gift to the community.
It's not being negative, just being realistic. The game is still alive thanks to the Modding Community, so if you want new content, look that way and/or learn to Mod to contribute by yourself, that would be a lot more useful than posting here...

Indeed, and the Patch 2.0.5 referenced in that quote is the one we just on April 24 this year, they never talked about releasing new DLCs as far as I know...
We got lucky even to get that patch, as peak CCU never broke the 3K wall those last years (max was 2708 in March 2024 and under 1100 since June 2024).
I expect a small surge for May 2025 with the patch but I doubt we will even go over 2K.

The OP's enthousiasm is cute but simply utopic at this point. It's a niche game in a game category that is already niche and definitely not a priority for Paradox leadership.
For example, I wrote to the director of PARADOX with a request to release DLC. I think if everyone writes to him, there will be an effect!
That you will get either a restraining order or sued.
Good luck though.
Also, when there is a discount, who has not bought the game, purchase the game. The game is challenging, but interesting! You'll have to study it, but once you do, you'll be happy.

And then maybe in 20+ years PDX think to revisit the ancient era and make a sequel, which is not impossible...
And frankly that's being generous because I suspect the real impact of this steam forum on a PDX decision around another DLC is non-existent.
