Military tradition
I think the current system of unlocking traditions does need a rethink in general.

Mid- to late-game, most of the cultures don't have 500 anymore because they've been assimilated. Also, the treshold requirement of 25% should be aggretad (25% of anatolian instead of 25% of carian). Techs/laws/ideas/etc. for lowering the requirement seems like a good idea.

Also, in ideal world (game) all nations would have some traditions filled already based on their heritage. Maybe every nation should start with a few free tradition picks the way most nations get 8 (or 4) inventions to start with?

By the time my Empire is that late into the game I really don't need/want extra traditions. Being able to convert populations to the non-primary culture could be a solution. Why would the Greeks (Accepted Culture) on the Anatolian plain convert their Pontic neighbors to Latins and not fellow Greeks?

My entire Roman Empire has Celts from Iberia and Britannia, Carthaginians and such all converting to becoming Roman, so trying to unlock those bonus traditions becomes harder and harder as the game goes on.

If you want to unlock other tree, just check which population you need to do so and integrate it as fast as possible. Give a population growth boost in their provinces. In way less than a century you'll get 500pops depending on the population initial size.

I succeeded into completing 4 trees with Egypt that way (with a lot of war exhaustion and a single legion training to 100%).
