And btw you should keep and eye on culture and unrest when you get so much new land as rome
but uh, once you achieve ten warscore, select all the stuff you want and see how warscore it costs.
After taking the capital of a province open up the war tab to sue for peace and each province will show what they add up to as part of the warscore. Taking money also increases that score.
During the first punic war the Romans took Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily as far as I remember. In the second war Carthage had its power completely diminished and weren't allowed to form an army, basically having to ask Rome for permission to do anything. The third punic war came from Carthage trying to defend itself against its neighbours and in raising an army to do so the Romans destroyed the city and annexed what was left of their lands.
With that in mind you can then plan wether you want to spend a couple years taking more territory or just grab a bit less right here and now
I may start again, as Carthage this time, and see how the AI does as Rome (not holding my breath!)
I just did that as Byzanz against Phrygia. They declared war on me and lost. 1 Month later I declared war to a 2 city state at the aegean sea and phrygia went to war again against me. Boom, they lost again.
But you have to look. It doesn´t work with every puppet. I didn´t look if that small country was a client state or a tribut state. On the other small country I looked, I would have suffered the -5 stability.
AI is silly
While you rebuild your strength (manpower and money) in the 10 year Peace and increase the loyalty and stability of your population and family member characters who are your generals, governors, and officials of your government so that YOU do NOT fall apart in Civil Wars and Rebellions, and/or Succession Wars.
You can also attack a different enemy in the meantime.
