I:R got some downright proper kicking due to its numerous troubles. Until a new team lead emerges with passion for the I:R project I don't think we'll see much of anything.
I am hopeful it will happen, as I think the game as it is, is properly released.
There's a lot that can still be done, simply importing CK2 barbarian raid mechanics into I:R would be one simple thing. Needing to station a border force to guard the frontier would give bigger empires something to do, and allow barbarians a reason to stay barbarians and not get wiped out by an Empire because they had to declare an unwinnable war to attack.
We're a few mechanics away from a great game. Its all about the project needing a team lead passionate enough to sell it.
Slowly but steadily they could have increased the player base if they kept going, with each patch they were receiving more and more praise from the community so it seems it's not like they were doing a poor job.
I bought this game a couple weeks ago with 0 expectations and was pleasantly surprised with it. Also the fact that there's mods that vastly improve the game, such as Invictus, again shows the potential behind this title.
And it's not like there's no place for interesting timelines that could be covered here. Would have gladly paid for DLCs that allow us to experience the glory of Alexander or the division of the empire and the fall. And that's just a couple of examples of the hundreds of notable events and civilizations that can be recreated in the game.
Unlimited potential, barely scratched.
Sauce or fake.
Those are the only options.
Two Weeks.
yes. just two more weeks
sooooo?
2 more weeks to flatten the curve trust me
I already have the new patch available.
You don't?
The changes to tribes are awesome and were long awaited.
In two weeks there will be a new patch concerning nations in India. So deep!
Two weeks later
Do you really think Paradox is going to return to Imperator Rome as long as they can keep selling us barebones, overpriced DLC for their flagship titles..?
They are making more from their latest CK3 scam than they could with the best possible DLC for Imperator Rome. I don't enjoy saying this, but it's the truth.
The only negative reviews that impact their bottom line seem to be the ones of the game itself, not its DLC's.
We would need for thousands of players who were disappointed enough at the launch of Imperator to leave a negative review, to give this game another chance, and hopefully change their reviews into positive ones.
Then Paradox (and probably more importantly, their shareholders) might go "Hey, this game is making a comeback, maybe we should set aside manpower and resources to resume development on it."
And that's assuming they don't just start over with an "Imperator: Rome 2", allowing them to sell a full-price title again instead of settling for the comparatively minor revenue gained from DLC's.
I want this game to rise from the grave, but if it ever does, it's not going to be in a matter of weeks. Months at best, years more than likely.
:-( The only Paradox game I like.
