Are they going to fix Legions or not?
Ugh.. Are they ever going to fix it so that Rulers can actually lead legions or not?

I would prefer the ruler did not lead a legion. In any case It would be nice that it leads the whole army, there are some bonus but there it's one connected with legions, if I'm not mistaken. For example: the more martial the Consul/King has it reduces cohort's loyalty to each legates, and less it makes them more loyal to the legate. + Also it would be nice something like the Field Marshal from HOI4.
edit:
In any case it could have it's own personal body guard that he only can manage with a maximum number of cohorts. And this you get after researching something that gives him this power. Specially It should be more difficult to get it in a Republic were it won't be really a good idea that legion's cohort were loyal to a consul and not to the next one.

I like this idea a lot--seems like a good compromise between having to raise your entire capital region levy just to have your ruler as a general and sack a city, vs having your ruler in command of a legion all the time like any ol' legate.

But speaking of fixing legions, I wish they'd tweak the legate/tribune interface to make it a bit more intuitive: it can be confusing with the way the assignments are split between the legion window and the cohort window. I'm a big fan of the levy/legion system in general but it could stand to use jussst a little QOL improvement.

Rulers led their standing armies or legions several times during this time frame. There is no reason why it shouldn't be an option. I can understand if there need to be some tweaks to power base, or having to appoint a regent or minister while the Ruler is commanding, but it still needs to be implemented.

Yeah that makes sense--maybe then that minister becomes "ambitious" or something?

Having to go the military menu to disband levies then having to go to the outliner to figure out why some didn't disband is just bad UI and UX.
