Official Paradox Imperator: Rome - Status Update
You might have noticed that Imperator: Rome isn’t assigned to any of the studios mentioned above. The reason for this is that on a regular basis we analyze the projects we have in development, where they are at, what they are trying to do and also what people and resources we have working on them. As part of this analysis we realized that there was a need to bring reinforcement for a couple of the projects at PDS, and given where Imperator was at in the run up to 2.0’s launch, we decided that after the launch of the update we would move people from Imperator to these other projects. Right now we’re working on plans to regrow the team for Imperator and continue development, but for the short term we needed to focus our efforts on these other projects.
I wanted to break the news now to manage everyone’s expectations: don’t expect much Imperator news at PDXCON, or any new content coming out in 2021. We’ll of course get back to everyone with news about it as long as we have something to share!
BugfixesFixed in march:
being able to wrongly disband levies in wartime via right clicking on them.
Fixed river crossings giving a bonus to the attacker instead of the defender
Fixed a crash that resulted from destroying a port under blockade
If any of these three examples happened to me in a game played 50+ hours i would scrap that game, not play anymore.
Developing several things, with a restructuring, and during a pandemic affecting all facets of game design...
The pandemic is nothing but an excuse. One i'm tired of being trotted out for every issue in business, the pandemic didn't force them to release the broken as sin EU4 dlc. That failure, and lets be clear it was a huge failure resulting in the worst reviewed game/dlc on steam, has lead to a restructuring likely as management was failing to do there job adequately.
Close though.
For now I only hope they don't start cutting off resources for CK3 only to invest in yet another new title.
It's a shame as after 2.0 it is almost the most complex and enjoyable Paradox game currently. Although Vic is going to annihilate Imperator's chances. If you want that pop mechanic with tons of complex dynamic play...well Vic III's going to win that fight.
Also theme doesn't matter once you taste those mechanics, it's too addictive you'll barely notice weather it's 300 BC or the 19th century.
