Help me what should I do?
So I'm Rome and I'm thicc and a dictatorship, I only have 45 cohorts and I want to clear out the remaining small states of italy, but if I declare war on them, when the war is almost over, carthage declares war (I have beaten them 2 times already) with 80 cohorts and call in all their allies, including democratic gaul with 30 cohorts...

sounds easy enough. fall back to your territories. make heavies. defend hills and river crossings. youll be fine. raise taxes also for army.

instead of attacking the italian states directly try attacking one of its more isolated allies that isnt directly allied to a bigger pact. In my game Etrusk is often allied with Carthage which has a lot of allys and vasal states so i try to keep Carthage out of the war and go indirectly for Etrusk. Etrusk usally has a tiny state allied around Genua and i attack that one instead of Etrusk with the only reason to suck in Etrusk and take those territories. Sometimes due to the war points or conquer points i dont get the minor state i declared war on initially but i do get my bigger goal. The tiny state i can always conquer later.
