Game End Date
Does the Game still abruptly end around the time of Caesar, or can you now continue to play past that date?

If not, is there a good/not broken mod that gets rid of the date?

Yes, the game ends when Rome historically stopped having Imperators.
If you want to go past this you will have to mod the game. It is literally one line in the defines.

Thank you.

I just completed my first full game the other day when 1.3 dropped, and it still just ends at 27 BCE.

I had been enjoying following along with the new missions, conquering new areas then consolidating my holdings, but by game's end I had only conquered the Italian penninsula, islands, and Hispania.
These new missions are REALLY not balanced to be finished in any kind of reasonable time frame, let alone the GAME's time frame.

But yeah, there are mods on the workshop that extend the end date, but you can do the change yourself, as it's a small edit on one txt file. I THINK that just editing the file allows you to get achievements, while most of the mods I saw say they disable them.

As a common rule with all Paradox games, any change to gameplay elements disable achievements. Only visual or cosmetic changes are achievement friendly

I am okay with no achievements. I just don't want the game to abruptly tell me, "Dear Wegadin, you are having too much fun. So, we have decided to destroy your game. Love, Paradox."

Yeah, no thanks. Seriously, I don't understand why they did not just add a "Keep playing" button when you reach the end date.

Because they develop historical games and have a certain coherence to uphold. A button to just keep playing would be a pretty poor feature, given the times change but no mechanics/events/technologies ever update. They leave that to mods.

The game is based on Historical accuracy, but still gives you the power to change it. I.E., Greece takes over the world, etc. I see no reason why historical accuracy should prevent a player from playing when they have already drastically changed history.

Again, because the gameplay mechanics and game structure needed to properly represent other historical periods are not there. Sandbox doesn't have anything to do with it.

The game ends in 727 AUC, exactly on the day when Octavius was named first Emperor of Rome.
