Grant holdings? How to manage government?
I don't understand what holdings are or how they work. It appears that when I grant a holding to an individual character, it increases their personal power base and personal wealth at the expense of the state and economy. Why would I want to do that? I want to increase the income of the state so that I can grow my economy. I don't see the purpose of granting holdings to anyone.

I also noticed that when a new ruler wins an election, it reduces the stability of the nation. This is troubling, especially when its a faction I don't like. I would also like to promote the factions I do like (perhaps civic, merchantile, or militarist). But I wound up with a really strong populist faction and populist doesn't interest me.

Overall, I don't get how government works and I can't find a decent tutorial that explains it clearly. Especially since most tutorials are outdated, including the online wiki. And most video tutorials are hard to get through because mofos will ramble for half an hour and not answer any of my questions.

they actually increase commerce income, where do you see decrease of moneys

But I wound up with a really strong populist faction
personal wealth increase commerce conviction, and corruption increase populist. Dudes with many holdings will actually vote for commerce (if they're also not corrupt)

Ok so it sounds like I need to make sure all holdings are granted to increase commerce. Who do I grant holdings to and why? Remember, I'm playing as Rome. So perhaps holdings for republics works different than monarchs and tribes.

A holding needs 10 slaves I think
you can boost loyalty by granting holdings.

So when I start a new game as Rome, I should grant all holdings to characters with low loyalty? Should I focus on characters in the senate? Or perhaps characters in a specific faction or family?
