Playable factions
Is there somewhere a list of factions we will be able to play? Are all the factions shown on map playable?

It's obviously a work in progress (the game hasn't been released yet!), but there's the wiki[imperator.paradoxwikis.com], I suppose...

Yes.

All of the factions are playable. Even the smallest ones. This is standard in Paradox Grand Strategy games with some exceptions.

Yes, all nations on the map are playable.

and at least many of nations are listed here https://imperator.paradoxwikis.com/Countries

and even if not all of them are, you can check the DevDiaries that cover each region starting with DevDiary number 22. https://imperator.paradoxwikis.com/Developer_diaries

Oh right wiki of course! I tried googling it but with no good results... Thanks!

Hmm... Since you mentioned standard in Paradox games... Are small factions usually well flashed out or are they just basically same thing over and over with different names?

Generally the same thing. The way it usually works is different countries will have a government type, culture and religion which all alter how they are played. So tribal nations will all play the same, but some may have different cultures or religions which will have their own events etc. The larger nations have unique events and mechanics usually and as time goes on DLC will generally make more and more nations have unique aspects. It would be impossible to make every single country completely unique due to the sheer number, likely hundreds of them.

Hope that helps!

It definitely does, thanks! I don't really hope for unique mechanics, I'm just hoping for more basic stuff. Like, correct names for generals and family members, maybe even for the local units. It kinda kills it for me to play for country I'm from when I see completely alien names.

Well, the various government types will play quite differently... particularly migratory tribes, I suppose, but for instance keeping track of your leader's dynasty will obbiously be much more important in monarchies than in republics, for instance...
