It is, you have to keep that in mind when conquering new families. And keep marrying your people

Yeah it happened after I conquered a new family. What happens? And I thought they got married on their own?

you can choose to keep the family you conquer if you're getting short on people. they can marry by their own but if you're struggling is always good to force marry them

I didn't ever run out in my Rome playthrough, but I got pretty freaking close (and I was running gender equality laws to effectively double my characters available for roles). Solutions include not murdering people, but you can also recruit them via... ways I've currently forgotten as I was Roman, not some Barbarian savage, so I didn't actually pay attention to how to get said Barbarian savages to work for me.

Historically Rome would never annex the entirety of an Italian neighbours territory they would take their best land, build a colony there and enter in an alliance sort of like the feudatory you start with and the defeated nation would remain fully autonomous besides military obligations. Of course they didn't implement this in the game you can't eat a part of them and also make them vassals.

The next best thing was eat them all and bring the nobility to Rome. Now its a fecking nightmare i have 18 scorned families and not enough positions to give to them all.

So be careful what you do with them all. The thing is my leader is governor of 8 provinces and i cant change them because it considers each the capital province for some reason sigh.

sometimes you cannot assign people if they are not citizens. It is very hard to tell who is and who isnt at a glance. At one point I had 12 families that were not citizens and you cannot organize by who is and isnt, that I know of.

Yeah I jailed them all and released them all into my characters but cannot use them because they are not citizens? How do they become citizens and what is the point if you cannot use them?

Right click on character portrait and grant citizenship

I don't see grant citizenship but I do see force conversion?

And thus trying to find them like the previous poster mentioned ugh...

A handy way to find people to hire I go to the employment tab then tick unemployed people and sort by highest martial then right click to see if I can grant citizenship and keep going till I have enough people to give a job to.
