feudatory states
just quick and simple, is it possible to make a state eligable for feudal status (but doesn't want to accept) a feudal state through attacking them and instead of taking their land, subjugating them?

If I understand your question correctly: yes, you can make someone a feudatory as part of your demands at the end of a war.

Once they are your feudatory state, they cannot break away so it's very powerful.

And you can integrate them fully in your Empire later if you raise their opinion enough (it's quite easy with the "improve opinions" diplomatic action as it can raise them by up to +160% for feudatories)

Against a big nation that you cannot conquer in just one war, due to the restrictions on peace deals, subjugating them this way instead of taking only part of their lands can be the smart way to proceed.

You can and then after 10 years you can integrate them (requires 190+ relations). The cost to integrate is 1/pop, base is .25/month, increases with diplo rep. Note, though, that you get nothing but the provinces and pop when you finish-no money, no armies, no navies, etc..

According to the Imperator Wiki Feudatory States can have no more than 10 Cities when they are formed. They also have to part of the same Culture group as the overlord. You could give them additional Cities in future Peace Treaties with other countries.

Client States can have up to 150 Cities when formed. But take a Diplomatic Relation slot.

But any Subject State that outgrow those limits (by giving more Cities) will cause problems with their overlord keeping them.

Yes, you can impose Feudatory status by conquest. It brings a big Aggressive Expansion hit though, comparable to annexation (didn't look at the details, but the time I did it it was high, and higher than a number of annexations I'd done).

Is there any means of creating subject states with its different types with the intention to integrate then afterwards without going to war with them first?

As of now the only diplomatic choice is offering guarantee and that doesn't even seem to trigger a subject state relationship
