Is mana still a thing?
I don't have the game yet, I've kept it on my wishlist and I'm a big paradox fan. Is mana still in the game, or is it nerfed or taken out already? I'm not keen at all on the mechanic!! Cheers in advance!

in the beta and upcoming (very soon) patch the mana system has been overhauled. Now there is only one type, polital power, and its mostly based on the loyalty of the advisers.

Ah ok, so is that similar to political power in HOI4 then? Glad to hear, I may buy the game soon, heard the game is improving well since 1.2!

tbh I would wait another patch or two to play, depends on what you want but the game is definitely improving.

^what he said. Game is going to be changing a lot in the upcoming patches. The beta of Cicero is pretty good, but it's not excellent yet.

It got replaced by political power, which you gain through having loyal government officials. (Your cabinet) I say it's good because it makes character interaction more important now, since political power can be spent in a variety of ways. The mechanic itself is still "mana" but it covers a large swath of the game from improving stability, changing governor policies and building cities. (You can now do that since they separated province type) It's a good step forward but it's still quite limited in scope. Cicero includes a lot of changes, it's basically an entirely new game micro-wise. A lot of the mechanics are similar to Victoria 2 regarding pops, with the addition that you can actually see what is happening to them in the UI.

Of course not, silly.

The thing closest to Mana now is more like an abstract well of leverage that your national leader has at their disposal. In tribes it can be used to settle problems without negative impacts, or it can be conserved to change laws with less resistance, or a hundred other uses.

Yes there is a pool of a singular resource but it's a singular resource that is generated through the skill and loyalty the government has toward their nation and leader.

Yeah it sounds like a positive step, I'm a big fan of CK2 and used to how gold, prestige etc are accumulated, wasn't so much a fan of political power in HOI4 though but at least this mana system is being worked on!

I'm quite mixed about that mechanic but I think it's great that having a good cabinet and ruling well gives you more to play with in terms of settling domestic issues and of course rewards those who govern well. I hope it isn't like the political power system in hoi4 though.
