Proclaim Dictatorship in Cicero Update
I'm having trouble getting Senate support for the reform required to pass the dictatorship. Any one have some tips on how I can easily complete it

Can't speak specially for achieving it after the Cicero update, but generally the ruler needs a high charisma stat as well as the Zensor (who needs to be a populist faction member as well), while the other faction leaders should have low charisma values in that moment (jailing problematic ones can help to an extend - if you are a bit lucky, the replacement leader has worse charisma). You can get beyond 50 seats for the populist by using the "strength faction" command, but the rest needs to come over time. High leader popularity helps. With Pompeii, granting honors to low-loyality generals from the populist faction gave an addiotional seat increase ven when already being beyond 50, but I'm not sure if that holds still truth for Cicero. Good luck!

its actually pretty easy. In this game, I had just finished a war in which I took dictatorial powers and I have my "okayish" populist leader

and laws, we are what seems like a long way off being able to achieve our goal of full time dictator

At this stage, having a little political power banked can help since it is slow to come by as a populist but the 80 odd I have should be enough to be declared dictator for life. We also want to ideally be on at least 55 stability or better and what we have to do at this point is terrorize everyone.

First thing we are going to do is remove anyone who is not a populist from any position of leadership. At this point we don't care if the position is unoccupied if you don't have enough populists on hand.

Head over to the character tab, select males only(I don't play with gender equality) and sort by powerbase.

We are going to imprison and execute people one at a time to build up our tyranny to around 50, we can start from highest powerbase down the list excluding populists(everyone who isn't a faction leader should be imprisonable). You are going to keep doing this one at a time until you are able to push through the princeps civitates law for election reforms. I usually do it one at a time(imprison and execute) and check back to the laws until I can do it. People with high powerbase will give the biggest tyranny hit so make sure you keep an eye on how much tyranny is going to come from each imprisonment and choose accordingly but the fewest we can kill to achieve the law switch will have a smaller of an impact on our popularity

50+ is normal at this stage and it will go higher but that's a problem for down the road. In m case I was able to do it with 2 people being imprisoned and only 1 having to be executed, having a left over imprisononed person is useful for later if our popularity gets too low.

ok we are part way there, We still lack the party support of 80. by having 55 stability before we started this process though we do meet the stability requirements.

Taking the princeps civitates law will move your faction standings around dramatically and in my case, mercantile and religious are my main impediment.

What we are going to do at this point is start imprisoning friends/family members of these two faction leaders until we get the populists up to 80%

Now our only issue now is our lack of popularity.

Jump over to the character list again and lets see who we have leftover in prison, start pairing off males in gladiatorial combat for that sweet +15 popularity until we get up to the 90% we need for dictator. If you don't have any prisoners to throw into the games, imprison some zero powerbase people from hostile factions in pars of two and make them fight, you will take a small hit to imprison them, but its a net gain in popularity at the cost of some more tyranny which...lets be real, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ already.

After letting my prisoners fight to the death, here is what we have

Congratulations, we are now a dictatorship

The country is a mess with massive tyranny and low stability, but you should have a solid base from here

Now this isn't a perfect guide as every game is going to be a little different but this should give you the tools to get a dictatorship with relative ease. Took me about 4 hours today loading, saving, testing and making this guide so hope it helps

Another note that I observed, if you are save scrimming to make this work, it appears that faction power wont start updating after a game reload until after the first of the next month, so if you do reload you will need to run the clock too the next month before taking any actions, so if you reload and start killing people without running till the first of next month, it wont do anything. Best bet is to save before starting this, and trying to do it in one run, and if you have to reload, go back to the start, run the game then try again till you can make it work

It seems like a pretty complex process but it isn't to bad once you get a feel for how the game mechanics work.
