The discord is full of people willing to play, although it may help to get your feet wet a bit but yeah, the solo experience is really good, very viable & actually probably the easiest way other than running with other players that know what to do.
You have the right mindset with the blind play through. If you give it time you will be rewarded for sure :))
As for solo, without the chaotic distractions of online play, you might find the game very repetitive and lacklustre, where issues of their design ideas stick out, because there's not much to distract from that.
I'm not personally enjoying the solo experience, which could also be because I'm slowly getting tired of the generic sandbox design these games have with resource gathering/crafting
If you're friends have it, try it for less than 2 hours and see if you're hooked, get a refund otherwise.
Go for it if you have at least 1-2 friends to play with, otherwise I can't recommend it, gets boring fast, too content shallow, way too repetitive compared to any other rouge-like or coop I've played.
otherwise, it is also easy to find groups in either discord or the tribes steam play group chat.
completing it in solo is fun too. where you have to do everything yourself. kind of satisfying when you manage to do it.
all in all, good game, i would recommend getting it.
PS : coming from a perspective with all achievements done and 99 hours in-game, i like the game, so ya... have fun and hope to see u in midgard.
I only play group with my friends
If you're interested, starting a new group: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ToMClounge
Not sure if they updated this, but you also don't need to stay in the server to get all the rewards end-game. You can just jump into a server, do 5 minutes of work, leave the game, hop on the next day, and get all the rewards from how far they got.
I went ahead and joined the group. Would be nice to get players to play with as a new player. Someone who is patient I guess.
many people will claim solo is easy if you "get gud", but thats a ridiculous statement. Solo is difficult and its meant to be difficult. you have to play a very exact playstyle in order to succeed at solo saga and i dont know why you would deny yourself the social experience by doing that, seems counter productive since this is meant to be a social tower defense type game
Solo has been, in my experience, much, much easier than co-op (2 player in particular). The saga difficulty scales poorly for two players, in my opinion. If you've had a bad map/RNG, you can still pull off a win at the eleventh hour when you're playing solo. But with two players and its wacky difficulty scaling.. the last giant that shows up before the endless nights start has so much health and damage resistance that two players would be hard pressed to kill it in time without the right elemental weapons, leaving no time to go after the saga boss.
