What are your favorite weapon combos?
First of all i want to say I'm blown away by how absolutely fantastic this game is -- way better than GORN for swordplay and way WAY better exercise than Beat Saber.

What weapon combinations have you felt was the best for investing ether into? I eventually ended up settling on going heavy with Axe / Mace. I'm able to (at least so far) block fast enough even with the 'weight' of the weapons making them a little slow. And the mace's heavy guard crush and axe combo damage let me feel like a berserker that can just power my way through enemies.
But the abilities for those two weapons don't seem to have any interaction with each other.

A more obvious combo would be the Arcanist Sword / Ceremonial Dagger, since combos finished with the sword would boost the damage of the dagger. But in practice it feels like igniting minibosses via combo doesnt come up as much as i thought it would?
Another one might be Axe / Crest, which lets me do more combos with Axe that gives natural bonus damage in combo, and Crest's guard damage opens up that combo. But then im forced to block with just the heavy axe, when even though they were both heavy weapons i could block with two hands with Axe / Mace.

What do you guys do? I havent unlocked the last four weapons yet. And i don't really know what to do with that crystal that lays void traps. Is that so you can make a 'duelist' build where you don't ever have to face more than one opponent even when the level tries to force multiple enemies?

I'm still using the sword as my main weapon due to the ease of use and the shield ability saving my ass when fighting enemies I'm not used to yet. Offhand I'm using the dagger that causes soul burn, the DoT can be the difference between having to combo an empowered enemy 2 times instead of 3.

I'm still trying out other weapons.

Also offtopic but I disagree with this being better exercise than Beat Saber lol, the kind of maps I'm playing in that leave me literally gasping for air by the end, and my shoulder and wrist muscles completely locked up! Until you Fall has been chill in comparison. Though I guess if you don't push the harder maps, BS is not that demanding.
Try these two maps and see if they don't give you a workout :)

mistcutter and rokari keenblade has some nice synergy with the stasis effect because upgrading the keenblade's super also affects the mistcutter's 3 stasis traps as well

Thank you so much for your feedback, Champion. We're so glad to hear you're enjoying your time defending Rokar!

Regarding weapon combination suggestions, we've found most Rune Knights develop favorite weapon pairings as they master their own style, taking the unique weapon traits into consideration to craft their ultimate combination. All runes are unique, and as such, all weapons crafted from them will behave differently. Many have different weights - like the unwieldy Mistcutter or the peculiar Vestal's Wrath, which may require adjusted momentum due to their heavy composition. Other blades may focus on ease of control over power, such as the Rokari Keenblade or Ritual Dagger.

Additionally, I wanted to call your attention to our Discord server.
Here, Champions come together to chat about the game (or other things, too!), share helpful battle tips and strategies, and compete against one another in monthly challenges. We also have channels where you can share your feedback and report bugs directly to our team. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

I've really been enjoying the default longsword and the knight's crest, something about using a single balanced weapon is really satisfying, and the sucker punch from the knight's crest is a good safety valve when I feel like I can't get my guard up in time. Plus all of the extra health is nice.

I've also started experimenting with an axe/spell dagger (forget what it's called) build, using the dagger mostly for blocking. Also tried a spell dagger/spellsword's amulet combo for a bit since there's an achievement for it, and it completely changes how I had to think about spacing and approaching encounters in general. I really dig the build and gameplay variety!

Out of curiosity, does anyone else have different 'stances' for different weapon loadouts? Like, I realized as I was switching between them that I tend to hold the longsword above my head pointed at the enemy, similar to how the knights carry theirs in the crook of their arm. But when using the axe I found myself kind of "resting" it on my shoulder while I held my dagger out in front of me for defense.

I think the devs did a great job of giving each weapon a different feel and weight, makes you approach and attack with them in different ways almost subconsciously.

Charm and crest are very fun since you can only dodge everything like a boxing game, but the superlow damage that can't be upgraded unfortunately makes it too slow and gets boring fast due to not progressing in game, and this is quite a shame since it's basically a new playmode all by itself

God I suck at this game. But I just had my best run yet with a Heartsplitter + Charm a combo. Build was focused on enhancing the Heartsplitter's super as much as I can and then using the Charm bonus to trigger it extremely frequently. I got the upgrade where the super does soulburn too, it was incredibly strong.
