Can the rest of us not interested in speedruns, get access via a beta branch or something, to the pre-syzygy patch?
Thanks.
I talked to the dev (Chimeric) about this and overall he doesn't / we don't think it's a good idea since it basically sets a precedent for all future updates as well (preserving and maintaining/bugfixing each major "state" of the game as time goes on). Also there are probably at least 10-12 more major updates in the game's future and locking yourself to a branch would prevent you from getting any of those updates as well.
I know this is a very delicate matter, since there's no way these balance updates can please every single player all the time. If this ruins your total experience of the game, I'm super sorry for that and I'm happy to give a full refund outside of Steam if you want it, since I would assume you are way past the 2 hour threshold that they require.
But I do want to take a second first off, to thank you. For your reply and adressing my concern, for going off your schedule to get this much info for me (and anyone that might be interested, if any), and for giving me the option to get a refund. This speaks volumes of you, and in a great way. Few people do this and you should feel proud of how you handle a customer request. Sincerely, hats off. Ron Swanson would be proud.
I do absolutely get the idea of further updates and I'll be here for the ride. Just one comment in that matter, is that I wouldn't matter being locked out of updates or any online / leaderboard option the game may have. But I also understand that enabling an older version via a different branch - even if no support at all would be offered for it - requires time, and that's time taken off development. Of course I'd take it if it comes, but won't demand it in any way as I get the situation.
Could I abuse of your kindness one last time? I know GoG allows for older versions of the games sold in their platform, to be stored and distributed. Since ND is sold on GoG as well, is it possible that GoG has the option to download an offline pre-syzygy version?
Thank you once again and sorry for bothering you with this last request for info.
Maybe a bit off topic, but I'm completely out of the loop: why do people prefer older patches over some others?

However, I created a thread regarding this matter some days ago:

We tried though, and the only available depot I can find is the current one.
Nevertheless, thank you for trying to help!
I just friend requested you so we can carry this conversation on in private - I'll look into a solution for you.

double edit * i hate nerfs instead of buffs
Gonna be honest, it was fun to be in the contest, but the runs were quite unfun as there really wasn't another viable competitive meta outside of maybe a base salvo build, instead of mortar. The RNG of the minefields also made it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insanely obnoxious, as you would get to round like 90 and killed by a stupid stray projectile. Mortar was like the only way to get a sub 8 that I know of.
