also the easiest way to beat this boss is not panic and sit on the far left or right of the screen, focus on disabling the 3 orbs
after the orbs are killed then it cant do things besides throw things vaguely in your direction
Give it a Boop with Deflagration and you might pop it instantly with a few upgrades to your crash damage(Caustic Barrier damage scales quite hard with crash damage for some reason).
Viper is a nice ship, I want more people to use it!
I realized that the laser walls only hurt you but do not impede movement, which helps. But trying to see how much damage you're taking while dodging everything sucks.
How do you sit in the far right of the screen without the myriad projectiles hitting you?
And I am very fond of The Viper and am trying to get it to work well with shieldless burn builds. Nothing amazing so far, but I like it.
It still is a huge morale drop when I see it and I still hate this boss more than any other. I do not enjoy this fight at all.
Still need a bunch of normal mods too ofc like hull upgrades, Adaptive Armor and some mobility so its not all that easy to get the build going but Self Damage Resist is imo extremely undervalued and when brought up to 80+% allows for some crazy burn damage.

The 'true' build is even worse to get fully functioning, using Thermal Lance, Bastion combined with a bunch of shield mods, Rancor and Charged Shield to push all damage resistances to more or less their hardcap which allows for even more Solar Hearts.
Near constant 75% hull DR and I think its 92-93% Self DR... even 110 self damage ends up being just under 9 damage but the high damage feeds Adaptive Armor, Rancor and Charged Shield almost creating a loop of increasing self damage = increasing regeneration(Adaptive Armor/Channeling).
Everything melts.
Probably the one part of Crucible threads I will always agree with. Being able to reliably clear this boss is completely beside the point - a lot of builds are just not fun to play against it. And the 300+ wave version is even worse due to how massively sped up all the attacks are.
But its again mostly a case of having patience, 9/10 times I die to it is because I tried to force the issue and kill it ASAP with a build that did not have that kind of damage rather than just picking it apart like a smart person would.
Levi or slow builds are kinda F though which is a complaint I have had with the game for a long time, there is no "slow but tanky" way to build if you expect to get anywhere past even 200(depends on enemies you fight ofc).
That's what ended my 3.3m salvo run. it's absolutely dumb on the later waves and should go the way of "station omega" - not spawning at all except on wave 80
I get to this thing with half of my builds and I just go, gg... it's over. There's nothing I can do.
It's not even just that it's hard, but that it bends the game rules in ways that no other enemy does. Even when I kill it I don't enjoy the experience.
This game is still in EA so I hope it gets taken out. This clearly wasn't well thought out.
Do I think its hard? no.
its just boring and not fun.

the glistering update is the update after vorpal (this one with swords)

Some tips:
Leviathan: Tail whip it IMMEDIATELY. All the following tips mean nothing for a leviathan.
Phase 1: Stay at a screen edge trying to aim for a corner, slowly thrust across that far edge toward the other corner, if done correctly the stream of bullets will stay just behind your ship. When you reach the corner, bounce off of it and cross the bullets, it'll hurt a little but that's usually ok.
Don't get aggressive during this phase, potshots only.
Phase 2: Use the screen borders to maintain momentum by rebounding off of them, this is a decent time to put in some damage via drivebys if you are confident.
After the second ring dissipates, get to the left of Crucible and hit it hard.
Phase 3: Put a bit of distance from Crucible and pay attention to the direction it is spamming its rings, try to stay upper left when it is spamming clockwise and lower left when it is spamming counter-clockwise. This is the phase where you can do the most damage to the crucible as long as you aren't running a short ranged weapon.
Phase 1(orbless): By now there's a pretty good chance depending on your build that all the orbs are dead, you should be able to finish the fight now.
