ps4 controller

hi! i have tried to use a ps4 gamepad to play this game, but it does not seem to recognize it, nor will it work properly when i try to use third party softwares (ds4 windows for example) to help it. has anyone been able to use it on this game?

Uh, just switched out my controller to test this for you. My PS4 Controller worked right out of the box with the exception of not being able to quit out of a game (Sidenote: Gamepad Rebinding needs work. Some stuff is missing like binding Reverse).

Instead of third party software, have you tried the Steam Gamepad config? You can find it under Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings. It can be used to troubleshoot controllers (it'll tell you what gamepad it detects) and you can rebind keys as you want. You could even bypass Nova Drift completely and rebind your keyboard keys to buttons and use the controller that way.

That said, it worked for me, without having to do any of that.

/edit: I just remembered, was this on the latest patch (from today)? Some stuff was updated. Gamepads previously would glitch out when you disconnected/reconnected them during gameplay.

no, i had configurated it properly and i have done it again just to be safe. the problem is not even that it does not get recognized - it is that the mouse will "override" it. as in the vessel will still follow only the mouse cursor on screen even if i can fire ad thrust with the controller, and in the settings menu it will not toggle between the keyboard, mouse and wasd options and the controller - even though i can navigate the menus with it

I am also having an interesting problem with the PS4 controller and Nova Drift. Pretty much the left controller stick switches between working with the "Left Move" and working with the "Left Mouse" setting on the steam controller setup. For example, yesterday setting the Left controller stick to "Left Move" resulted in an unresponsive left stick but the left mouse setting worked (Frustrating because the game play is completely different when using the two settings). While today it was the opposite, Left Move worked but Left Mouse didn't (after finally getting used to it). Also, I need to have my controller plugged in or I get no response at all. Would be great to get some support for this.

I think this is a separate issue than the controller itself. The game is designed to switch dynamically between control schemes if the player starts steering a different way. You can disable this in the settings. Let me know if this isn't the source of your troubles.

I can't get my Dualshock 4 to work with this game.
