What in the WORLD Does a Good Torrent Build Look Like?
Most of my runs usually sit between 100-200, yet I struggle to get a torrent build past level 60.

It seems like it should be a solid pick, since the range is limited, but the damage is really high if you can get up close. So I've tried a lot of builds which should theoretically synergize with that. Hullbreaker, Leviathan, Sentinel, and I've even tried Battery and Courser to maximize projectile output.

I've tried to use Amp a lot since it synergizes well with the close-range torrent likes to have, along with Halo and the more reliable Siphon and Orbit. But nothing seems to work. Ultimately the close quarters I have to get into has led to constant early deaths.

I've tried to compensate with Drones and Allies too but that's also had limited success. Maybe I just havent built far enough into them?

It does seem like you want to slide into the homing tree early - trying to avoid the upgrades that will hurt your already terrible projectile velocity, but enough to ensure anything within your radius will be taking damage from your torrrent. Burn damage also seems like a strong pick, but I haven't been able to pick it up soon enough most runs. Velocity along with a snipe dump to grab Incindiary Strike also seems like a good idea, but it seems like the most important thing is improving your survivability since you'll constantly be in your enemy's face.

Put them on Interceptor Allies and Charged Mines. That's the only way I ever tolerated Torrent, and even then it's subpar.
use it to rapidly trigger discharge and reflexive shields, pump attack speed and shield power.
Finally had a good one.

Took some of the suggestions here, went for attack speed and shield power. It was A Halo Sentinel build.

I think the main root of the run was that I went for Omni Shield. I've never had a successful Omni build until now but I managed to take this one as far as 155.

I can't remember all the details since I hit level 50 with some lucky late roll on the +5 levels mod, but the minefield helped out a lot with those keepaway types and beefier enemies (even though I never got charged mines and the damage wasn't great, the burn damage got the job done). And the tankiness with some extra CQC ups like Maelstrom and Orbs of Discord helped me to close distance and get my damage in a little more safely.
I've had good luck marrying torrent with barrage, get all the velocities, corrosion, and burning heart. Be sure to go down the tree to double your base projectiles. Couple it wiith a good shield/regen build to keep you alive and the damage gets ridiculous fast. I've had the best runs using the supermod apathy. Great for minimizing that close-up damage since you pass through most everything. The main problem you will have once you mod up and get barrage is seeing where you are going....the projectile count is so high that it gets pretty tough to see ;D

Take viper+siege weaponry+that calibrate siege weaponry+barrage+a bunch of burn damage mods+power reserves so you can move

The self damage of siege weaponry will proc viper's fireballs constantly.
Torrent on it's own is a big damage dealer. Without any mods, it can MELT the first boss. Capitalize on that huge damage to go far.
Here's a guide

Architect loaded mines, with option to pivot into mortar. Point is to spam the mortar, every new shot pops the currently in flight one, causing a torrent circle to burst out. With wild mods it gets even crazier, because movement is highly overrated so stack grandeur and grab discord orbs at some point.
