Same engine as other DXF games?
Does this use the same game engine as the rest of your games?

They were all made using the Clickteam Fusion program, yes sir. Best $99 I ever spent!

It's a really great and powerful programming tool. I've used it exclusively since 2005 or so. The latest version is 2.5 however they've been working on 3 for a few years now as well:

Thanks for responding. I bought it and gave it a try, but I'm having a similar problem as with your other games I've played, which is that it seems impossible to play in fullscreen mode while still keeping the correct 4:3 aspect ratio.

So in fullscreen everything is stretch horizontally, and in windowed mode everything is the correct size, but the window is pretty small and hard to use on my 1920x1080 monitor.

I think some of your other games had window size options (1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, etc). Do you plan on adding an option like that for this game as well? I think ideally a 1.5x resize option would be ideal for me at least.

Yeah it's pretty tough to get correct (for me) mostly because everybody has different monitor sizes and you're working from a set frame size. For example right now I am working on another game that looks great on my laptop which is more modern and rectangular but for anybody who has an older square monitor it looks squishy and crappy.

There are some things to consider when making a game with CF:

The default fullscreen option really justs stretches to fit the screen so if you're working with the "wrong" sized frame it will look strange. I try not to use this very much if possible.

There's a Window Control Object which is really good that I use for almost everything and you can specify many parameters to define many Window sizes. You have to take some math into account but to keep it simple let's say your workspace frame is 300 x 200. If you want to blow everything up while keeping the ratio the same you could use the WCO and set the X size to 900 and the Y to 600 (just a simple x3) and in the application display properties check the 'fill display' option or whatever it's called (I'm not at my computer right now).

Another option which works for many is to use the Ultimate Fullscreen Object, which is an extension made by a guy who really knows his stuff. I'm not positive if this comes standard with CF but if it doesn't it's a free extension and easy to find. I tried using this myself and it worked great for Just a Cleric however some people reported graphical freezing problems and sometimes the Steam Overlay wouldn't work right. I thought I'm that case it'd be better to take the UFO out and keep it at a set Window size which while not perfect at least allowed everyone to be able to play the game.

I hope some of this helps. Personally-speaking I find it hard to anticipate how a game that runs and looks good on your computer will perform and look on many different computers but I do try hard to make everybody happy. Even if it takes a while!

In ODW's case I chose the current windowed size because it didn't really look good at any other size to be honest.

If you have any other questions or need help with CF at all please let me know. There's lots of awesome things you can do with it (my Metroidvania is coming out really great so far!) There's also a great community for help at the Clickteam website forum:

Thanks for the lengthy explanation. I'll try and play ODW as-is, although I think some people with higher-resolution monitors (2K, 4K) will probably give up on it since the window will be quite small for them.

Thanks, I appreciate you giving it another shot.

Maybe I can come up with something akin to the 1.5x screen and so on for ODW but it'd be tough to design a windowed mode that's bigger than my own monitor (I wonder if it's even possible?)

CF is a great program though, I love it. You can do some seriously complex things with it. My Equin game is very complex behind the scenes for example, I just dress it up with cutesy graphics so nobody knows :steamhappy:
