And I agree with the rest. I am old enough that I got into Dragon Ball upon release, and then Dragon Ball Z. There have been so many good games, but I feel there has been zero innovation. Xenoverse had a thing going, but apart from the original story, the rest of the game is garbage. Compared to Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2, the mechanics are a huge step backwards. I refunded both. FighterZ was amazing, but unfortunately it catered to a different audience, and not precisely fans.
Everything else has been done so many times that I feel as this game will be nothing more than an extended story mode from the old Budokai/Tenkaichi games.
They really need to do a full-fledged Dragon Ball RPG, a-la Dragon Quest. But that won't sell microtransactions and DLC, unfortunately. Namco-Bandai has made clear of their new direction.
This game seems like a rehash of 15 year-old assets with some lense flare and AA. I won't buy it until it's reviewed by users.
Goku's Japanese VA is the worst ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing in anime history to this date. Not having to hear that granny failing to sound like a man is worth suffering trough the English voice cast.
So wait you heard Goku sounding like a Japanese Grandmother and though it sounded like his balls have dropped? I think you might be going through some hormonal issues yourself if you think that high pitched dolphin screeching sounds like a man who has already gone through his puberty a while ago.
I don't care how well she can voice act sometimes even a good actor just isn't fit for the role or the voice is a complete missmatch. The actor should have been changed when Goku Grew up in the series.
Goku and Gohan are bad, but King kai is the absolute worst for me. Especially in super.
Dragonball is one of those rare anime's where the english cast actually blows the japanese out of the water entirely.
Screw Funimation. They fired a man based on "he said she said" rumours with no proof.
No.
As much as I dislike any American dub in anime (specially in Dragon Ball), I also understand they try to adjust to the culture. But most of the times it just flatout ruins the essence of the character. Americans can't take anything too different from their culture, so they disguise elements of their own into it. They also love censorship, which in my opinion ruins the artistic value of said media.
There are even extreme examples that fall in the ridiculous. Just look at 4Kids dubs. They even edit food items, Japanese lettering and for some odd reason, even the time in clocks.
But hey, it could be worst. It took me some time to get used to how cringy the Funimation dub can be, but at least it's not nearly as bad as the Ocean dub.
Goku is physically in his mid 30s now with absolutely stupid testosterone levels and he still sounds like he did as a child? Come the ♥♥♥♥ on. The US dub being bad is no excuse to defend the bad Japanese voice acting.
The only people who think Goku's, Bardock's(there's absolutely no excuse for this) Adult Gohan's voice is good or fitting are Weeb loyalists who think that Japan does always everything better.
If all those years back they had thrown out Nozawa in favor of a good male Japanese VA who has a voice that fits a young man none of you would complain or even hope that the Child Goku's VA would also be doing the adult voice.
