I do not recommend playing this game. Although it is very enjoyable, it eventually reaches a point where it is impossible to succeed without using extra unit slot cards - a consumable that is not earnable through gameplay and cannot even be bought directly. Yet another example of a good game ruined by ridiculous monetisation practices.

After a little bit of a rough start, this game is absolutely addicting. It's very different from the rest of the EMERGENCY series, but it's very fun; especially multi-player. That said, I do still hope they work on a proper sequel to the old game... the last several were just recycled Emergency 4's, sadly.

I have played the Emergency Series on and off over the last decade.
This one is a pretty good live service adaptation.

The gameplay lacks the road cleanup that you know from the older games (THW).
The monitization concept is a bit too much in your face for my taste but so far I have gotten around actually needing to buy things (I read that at some level there virtually is a paywall because you need boosters to actually be able to complete these insane missions)

There seems to be a small community allowing for some nice coop experience. Not a single griefer so far (just the occasional drop out). In lower missions, noone uses the microphone although voip seems implemented. I imagine in higher levels this might become more necessary.

You do need to register an account but they do not collect all your data - just email, dob and country (probably for tax reasons).

Since it is free I recommend giving it a try - it is fun, you might like it.
