Steam PLEX issue
So a friend of mine decided to buy a couple of PLEX and gift them to me through Steam. Got the popup, added to my library, and poof. Not redeemable on any of my accounts, not showing up in any of the accounts' management or game time pages, nothing. Submitted a support ticket 4 days ago and so far, nothing. I have played this game wince 2010, when I bought it on Steam, so I haven't bought any of the starter packs or anything like that, just the original game before those packs came out. Does anyone have ideas for something I could do here? I'm kinda in need of those PLEXs.

So I tried something, and when and bought another plex. This PLEX FULLY REGISTERED on the CCP side of things and when i sign onto that account it shows up in my transaction history.

It has not hit the account yet though.

Key to this is: I named my steam account steamtest1 from my previous comment.

When I bought the plex it said it would be delivered to the account named examplename, my steam username. Yet, it didn't it delivered it to steamtest1 (although it hasn't shown up yet as redeemable, I will give it a couple hours I just went and did this).

I am honestly impressed at how poorly this was managed. It is not like valve to have such an issue managing data, they are really much better than this usually at managing purchases

Open a ticket with CCP as well. Steam support response times are over a month, and they'll likely give you a copy-pasted reply that tells you to contact the developers of the game.

It didn't take them a month for me, just half that long, and it was a copy/paste "Contact game developers" generic thing, AFTER I said that CCP had sent me to them. ...derp.

Reply the ticket and insist/keep escalating.

The Steam support system is so bad. The actual techs are fine, but it's bad on a systematic level. Just...ugh.

I'm doing just that, actually. I mean, I'm not gunna blame the issues on the people or anything, but you would think that a company as big as this (CCP didn't respond until a friend put in a ticket about my ticket, since he bought the PLEX for me lol, took 2 weeks). This kind of issues is just my luck though.

I do appreciate you being watchful of the community and helping us figure this out, Shotgun. Much kudos.

Google "Steam support bad" and see just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Valve management even acknowledges that it's bad, but hasn't been able to fix it in almost a decade.

So did you ever get your original PLEX? I haven't heard from steam or ccp yet. I may have to dispute the transaction in PayPal and get my money back and just go through CCP and never steam.

Just FYI, disputing any Steam transaction like that has...consequences...for your Steam account.

JUST heard from Steam and they said in my instance that they needed the permission of the purchaser to refund them. He's getting on that. It took me saying I'm fixing to go to the Better Business Bureau because I had a support ticket closed with no response after a week and a half and then this issue. That got their attention.

Nah, Valve completely disregards the BBB (which isn't a great entity in itself). Steam support does help, but you have to wait a long time and show exasperation.

well just had this happen to me. Opened a ticket. No reply yet. I get things happen. However, after over a decade of subscritopn to both steam and EVE.. will say byby to both if not resolved.

It was a HUGE pain in the neck trying to get it legitimately fixed, but once one of the CCP devs finally read the ticket, they just gave me the PLEX and said if I managed to get Steam to fix their end of it and I got the extra PLEX, then Merry Christmas.

If CCP doesn't read the ticket soon, open another one with the reference number, and keep doing that until they respond. Seems some tickets get lost in the mix, and seems those are ones where money is involved.
