EVE Online
Is there more to this game other than PvP?
While PvP can be a lot of fun in any game, it's not something I really enjoy. I tend to prefer cooperative PvE challenges in these sorts of games. Does EVE have any of that? Or is the entire point of the game to compete against other players?

Short answer = yes. Try doing some security missions from agents. Find a good corp, form a fleet and off to PvE you go with your buddies.
EVE is based around a "play as you want to play" theme. If you want to be focused around a PvE play style, You are best off doing what JustGez said, though make sure the corps you consider are reputable or trustworthy, its not uncommon to see people create one to lure you into lower security systems where there are no penalties for attacking another player. Hope this helped :3
You can play PvE but you can't avoid meetings with PvP even in PvE missions. Other players can always find you and try to steal you loot or kill you.
Try trading or manufacturing.. these are quiet fun as well..
ok.... the website says mining tading salvageing building empires makeing planetrary bases, tradeing, and exploring, theres also lots of millitary trees.

This was really interesting to read, thank you.
There's plenty of PvE, but completely avoiding PvP is going to be impossible if you want to play the good stuff.

Well, the "good stuff" is quite subjective. To me, the more enjoyable aspects of online, multiplayer games of this capacity are the cooperative (and non-competitive) aspects. While I'm not attempting to completely avoid PvP, if that's all there is to look forward to, or to work towards, then this may not be the right game for me.
You can create a manufacturing corp. I've done it in both safe and 0.0

However, odds are pretty good that if you are in a low sec manufacturing, you'll just be making ships for an alliance while risking quite a bit with the necessary BPO (blueprints) in 0.0 space. You might get paid, you might just be their slaves. You can make them in safe space, but they just aren't as profitable, because any ♥♥♥♥♥ can make them there, and there are no differences between similar BPO's. You can't tweak your BPO to make it "different". Pirate companies can also war dec you in safe space so there's really almost no way to avoid pvp.

Most 0.0 corps, in reality, have their own safe space manufacturing under dummy companies anyway. It's far easier to make ships in safe space and move elsewhere.

One of the things you could try is day trading. I used to make tons of isk attempting to corner the zydrine or isogen markets in a region without ever making a thing. It used to be relatively safe to do this, but now with scanners and suicide flyers, not sure you want to be zipping around with a cargo ship filled to capacity with it. You do however, need isk to start. lol You can trade anything, and it's semi rewarding. I found market speculation more interesting though.

You might try just mission running for a bit, then trading. If you like the game you'll stay with it, but as I've warned you it's more of a lifestyle than a game.
The EVE game experience depends on your corp. There are quite a few avenues for PVE besides missioning, but honestly, it all is sort of pointless if you go it alone. The PVE content doesn't really stand on it's own. If you're willing to give it a shot, try joining a corp. RvB, Brave Newbies and Eve University are all good places to start. If you want to learn PVE first, Eve University isn't a bad place to start.
There's quite a bit of PVE content, past highsec missions which I assume you're on. Level 5 lowsec missions, incursions, complexes, exploration, wormholes, and all sorts of mining and production. The thing is the danger of pvp, and securing the space to do all these things is part of the difficulty level. Take lvl 5 missions for example, they're a tad more difficult by themselves, but the actual hurdle of doing them is not getting blown up.

You CAN do most of those things without having to fire a single shot yourslef. You'll have to learn the basics of avoiding pvp, and find in a corp that will support that. You want to run lvl 5 missions? Sure, your 20% tax will fund your bloodthirsty corpie that loves killing but hates missions (so he's broke), and he'll secure the space for you. Want 0.0 complexes action? Renter corps are for you, help pay the rent and never have to shoot anything that's not a red cross. And if you don't even want to step out of highsec, get into incursions.

As all the others I cannot stress the importance of being in a corp enough. Most high end stuff are desinged to be prohibitive for a single player.
