Yep. I would never, ever buy this game through Steam. The API information bit alone is a non-starter. Evemon won't work without the API.

This right here. All good corps are going to want you to give them access to your API. I can just see how poorly trying to explain that you can't because of Steam would go.

They need to fix this so you can at least get and use your API information since it is used for so many of the third party programs as well.

basically the way EVE works through steam at the moment is very dodgy, surrounded by many disclaimers and warnings.

A long time ago I wanted my EVE account on steam so I could see my gametime on my profile. Though I gave up after it became pretty clear that that was never going to be possible.

I would just reccomend doing all through the EVE website and external client, that works :)

A cheap eve light account. But it is still kinda useless for anything but a scout/cyno alt and those I have already at different accounts. Without the ability to transfer those chars onto the steam account it is even more pointless.

They'll probably address this in the future, since not hacing API access is too much of a limiting factor, unless they want another turdstorm on their heads.

This is insane. No one should buy EVE through steam until the API issue is fixed.

I use EVE with the external Client for over an year now and I've now bought myself the Steam Version for a second Character. I can create an API just fine. You just need to use the "Login through Steam" Button, that is all.

Would be really nicer if we had the option to transform our existing account into a Steam one (for the trading cards mainly), so I approve the question made just above.

The Warning isn't accurate anymore. CCP also created a Blogpost about it. I'm not sure about the Character Transfer though. I also thought about transferring my Main into my new Steam Account. I love the possibility to buy PLEX with my preferred Payment Method as I don't own a Credit Card (good thing, by knowing my Buy Scheme, I would've more debts then Europe now). I really hope they implement a "Merge your Account"-Possibility.

Anyone else having issues with this again? I am clicking submit and it simply refreshes the page instead of continuing on. When ya'll originally had the issue did it refresh the page or give your an error or something else?

Doesnt really matter because noone's seeing my API except me. I wouldnt trust those corps as far as I could throw them.
