CCP (devs) spawn free items and show favoritism

Just letting any potential buyers who are interested know ahead of time. The game is billed as a sandbox, an even playing field where everyone has to compete.

the thing is, since CCP hired some EA dudes, things aren't looking so good.

recently, the devs secretly spawned and gifted 30x rare ships for a corp. Each of those ships was selling for ~20bil at the time, which means the devs secretly gave out over half a trillion isk which could then be used to influence the market or fund wars. the payout from those items could build around 10 titan hulls.

also, they let this same corp engage in RMTing, but shut down other players who tried doing the exact same thing.

just letting you guys know the game isn't really that fair before you spend hours in it trying to come out ahead of the competition, just to find out the devs are giving them free stuff. more free isk than the average eve player will even see in their lifetimes.

So unless you're above average in this game, don't worry about it, because as Ted stated, you'll never see that much isk in your life anyways.

I never cared what the big corps were doing. I was focused on my stuff, because at the time, that's all that mattered to me. Heck, if I were to reactivate, I'd probably go right back to what I was doing before I left. Still no craps given regarding the billions of isk that I'll never see.

Also, yes, the game was 'built' as a sandbox. It brags about it. They're one of the few who did it correctly, and they have all the reason to brag about it.

that ships was a reward for all the content and millions of tons of data that they manage to maintain a lot of events for EVE universe players.

is like Valve giving Unique Cammo for Weapons on Counter Strike GO to some group that make Thousands Reviews, Guides, Content, manage millions of data base, servers ,etc etc . . and you appear here writing this like Valve is a Corrupt Enterprise Cause you got on Cs Go and got a Crap Cammo and you cant do what other players do on game . .

So in other words, the OP is mostly right but the official response / excuse is to placate ppl who are pissed by milling over the event and say it wasn't meant to effect things the way it did and that it was a reward for their staunch support.

the whole point is that the ship is rare... hence one of them being worth a supercarrier. a titan costs ~60bil in minerals, so 3 of those ships would fund the building of the most powerful ship in game. giving 10 free titans to a corp in secret isn't exactly fair now is it?

anyways, i'm just letting you guys know that you can work extremely hard to try and get ahead... and then after you grinded out that titan finally, you find out the devs gave a couple of players some for free.

Devs rewarded some of the most valuable players in EvE because of their investment in the game for years...they deserved that...this is a minimum.

Thanks to them they allowed the game to get more content and keep its players, even carrying new players in the game.
The main issue of EvE was to loose most of its players time after time, so they had to do something (as they put it on steam was one of the good ideas they had)
This is not unfair, every hardcore gamer want to be rewarded this way.

everyone invests time in the game, not everyone gets a free supercarrier in payment. they are not even close to being the most valuable players in eve... most of them are just accountants and truckers who do nothing more than transfer isk and ship prizes. the real valuable players are alliance heads, fleet commanders, and high volume traders who actually move the economy and provide in-game content.

regarding blink, they provide 0 content for the game. they are a lotto, nothing more nothing less. i've never met a person who joined and stayed in the game due to a lotto. you don't even need to be logged in to play the lotto, it runs on an out-of-game website.

20bil = almost 40 plex, assuming a ~500mil price. thats 3 years of free gametime.

it would cost the better part of $1000 USD in plex to buy a supercarrier. how again is that fair? some guys work for a lotto site (which pays their employees free plex a month), and on top of that they are gifted another 3 years of free gametimes worth? yeah, you can't call it a level playing field under those conditions.

yes, i do have an idea what it takes to run a website and such in game, because i am running one myself. i have a couple of friends who run lottos as well. as for somer, they don't really do any out of game events bro, sure they were at eve vegas but they didnt run it. stop acting like they provide service, the only thing they really do is run a gambling website which operates strictly for profit. and no, not all players get free supercarriers, stop being disingenious. it's one thing when everyone gets a free implant for christmas, its another when 30 members of 1 corp get 20bil each in secret. it's also one thing when a person RMTs and gets a ban, but one corp is allowed to do it the exact same way without consequences.

Played for years, and quit after word came out that CCP notified BOB about and upcoming exploit following a certain patch/update which rendered station shields offline and broken.
After the zillions of complaints and support tickets CCP refused to reimburse anyone.

Not to mention all the BS PR speak at fanfest which never gets delivered... take planetary for a more recent example.
