EVE Online

WORST MMO TO DATE
After playing pretty much every MMO there is, I feel confident in stating that Eve has turned into the number one Gank/Greifing MMO online, EVER. Those who defend or deny this are either part of the mega corp Ganking/Greifing crews or just enjoying being a troll. Eve was a "Solo" friendly game but now you can get ganked/griefed even in the beginning areas, with impunity. If you deny this you are just lying to yourself and the rest of the community. Sad.

You can't get ganked or griefed in the beginner areas without someone else breaking the rules. If you have been ganked or griefed in any of the starter or career agent systems, or as a newbro (1> month old) in any of the common SoE epic arc systems, report it to a GM and the gankers/griefers will be swiftly dealt with and you should be compensated for your loss.

The OP clearly didn't play Ultima Online pre-trammel release. The Eve community has it's problems but ganking low value players in High Sec isn't one of them.

Despite the steep learning curve and low retention rate of new players, all I see is new-bro's being helped and actively encouraged to join new player friendly corps.

Trying to 'learn' Eve solo is a BIG ask, even for veteran MMO players.

I highly suggest you watch the youtube series "Worst MMO Ever?" by Josh Strife Hayes, try some of those games out.. Then let us know what you think.

i have been playing for over 1yr and have never got ganked or lost a ship...me lucky so far:steammocking:
Heathy Jun 18, 2023 @ 10:47am
its probably ppl joining corps with active war decs then undocking from jita. there are noob traps in Eve. its a learning experience. lots of ppl do recommend joining a corp asap, you just have to make sure that corp can't be wardecced. the game is quite large and there are a lot of corners in highsec that don't get a whole lot of traffic. everyone goes to caldari space because of jita, but there are quieter regions with less ganking.

It not New player friendly one bit

I can think of 7 worse MMOs to date that are far worse and lasted way less as long.
Tera, Aion, Ultima Online, FireFall, World War Z, Allods Online, Defiance.

You don't make it 20 years and call it the worst unless you just don't like math, precision, strategy, and can't handle being destroyed.

Most people can't handle losing things in games and not getting them back like when you play WoW / EQ / LOTRO / ESO etc.

This doesn't make it the worst MMO, it just makes it the most difficult to enjoy MMO, it's pretty much what Eve had always been.

Eve is a wonderful MMO. However, not sure if the game is worth spending $20 a month on. I think $10 - $15 would be appropriate for this type of game. I know you can lower the cost by subscribing longer, but that also takes a large sum of cash to throw into the game. If they got the price back down to $15 a month, I would sign up today.

And ?
How can be one compensated for being "killed" over and over just for fun?
Is that a game in your opinion ?

After some time of that kind of "welcome experience" that new-player will quit EVE.
And no amount of "compensations" will convince him to remain and being cloned over and over for someone else sick idea of fun !

Also, that "grief-er" has multiple accounts, and what he looses while "breaking the rules" wins ten times on his other accounts.

And good luck legally finding his multiple identities.

As for, imho CCP developers are all in this and they enjoy it 100%

Because they could stop it with just disabling pvp in said sectors for instance, bun nope;

Why would they disable PvP in their PvP game?

Why would they disable PvP in their PvP game?

Is PvP:
As in a war, confined to a place and to a relative period of time.
Or a crime: you get arrested eventually and gone from the day to day life.
Not all the time everywhere !

Unless ur a troll, and you love "killing" new players for fun ?
Right ?
Then EVE is your place !

If you "illegally" attack someone in high-sec, the NPC police forces will destroy your ship. Seeing as how new players usually don't have anything of value, they are very rarely subjected to what is defined as "ganking" in the game. In fact, according to CCP's own statistics, only 1% of new players get ganked, and the players who get ganked are actually statistically more likely to enjoy the game and stay in it. Here's the video of the presentation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A92Ge2S8M1Y&t=55s
(the relevant bit starts at 00:55)

So you're just flat-out wrong in all of your statements and assumptions.

Your video is irrelevant TODAY since is 8 years old.

1% ... is *******

2018 intill 2022 :
"32,000 ganks, 60 Trillion ISK lost, approx.
20,000 separate victims
Annually, roughly 8k ganks, 5k victims, 15 Trillion in value lost"
( your 1% is ganker isk loss ratio per kill)

But to each his own.

I know personally a (former) grief-er and he had 4 accounts (that I know of)
They ganged out in sec 0.8 0.9 for days.
and/or mass invasions each weekend that even concord couldn't deal in time.
Shotgun Jun 24, 2023 @ 7:15pm
Yes, there's ganking in EVE. But you were making an argument specifically about new players getting ganked in your posts above. That just isn't the case. The vast majority of gank victims are older, richer players, who lose freighters loaded with billions of ISK worth of goods, or flying expensive ships loaded with faction modules in PvE. If we go by the numbers you posted ("32,000 ganks, 60 Trillion ISK lost, approx."), that's 1,875,000,000 ISK per gank averaged out. How many new players do you know flying something worth nearly 2 billion ISK?

Furthermore, I provided an official data point from an official developer presentation. Meanwhile, you provided links to a few forum posts written by unknown players. What I provided is evidence for my argument, but what you provided isn't evidence for yours. You'll have to do better than that.
