EVE Online
Mumble overlay not working in dx9 mode
For some reason I am unable to get Mumble Overlay working in EVE launched thorugh Steam. I have the latest Mumble (1.2.4), playing EVE in directx9 and have Steam Overlay disabled. Launching both applications as Administrator doesn't help. Mumble overlay doesn't work either in Blacklist and Whitelist mode. Mumble is launched prior to EVE. I have Windows 7 and I am playing on a notebook with Nvidia Optimus (GT555M). Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you looked from CCP's technical forum if they have thread about it ?

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3895936#post3895936

and answers :
Windows 7 64-bit, Mumble 1.2.4, overlay was working pre-Rubicon in DX11 mode.
Post-Rubicon, the overlay doesn't work unless you switch Eve to DX9 from the launcher.

Are we waiting for Mumble to patch this or CCP?

Unfortunately Mumble is out of our control and not officially supported by EVE so you should raise it with them.

That said, we realize many players use Mumble so we'll see what we can do (without making any promises).

Mumble has been working with DX11 for a year now, however you need to download this Nyetwurk version from here:

https://github.com/nyetwurk/mumble/downloads

Obviously if you're worried about security or whatever then don't download it, but I can confirm it does provide overlay with Rubicon, because I use it myself.

So"official" mumble won't work but fan made patch does with DX 11.

The good news is that DX11 doesn't make a bit of difference.
Aside from needing a GFX card that supports it obviously which might be a problem.
Well, I wasn!t able to get overlay on dx11 so I switched the game back to dx9. Most of the players do have overlay working in dx9 mode. Just me and one other guy who happens to be launching EVE through Steam as well. So that made me believe it has someting to do with Steam.

I will try the unofficial Mumble though, thanks for the link.
The trouble seems to be that you can't launch EVE in DX9 when you have to log in through Steam. You can launch the standalone EVE launcher, and use it in DX9 through the Run command, but then you can't log in via Steam. The Nyetwurk version may be the way to go for Steam EVE accounts...
