Account deleted?
Hey everyone, I played eve online on steam about a year and a half ago, before the whole subscription thing was added to steam. Now I want to go back to eve but it's been a few days since I started trying to log into my steam eve account, but each time i try to do it, it prompts me ''to use an eve online account'', be it on the website or in the launcher.

Did my account got deleted and all the things I had on it in the year that I didn't play the game? The thought of losing a character and a ton of isks is kinda depressing.

If you didn't buy the starter pack through steam you need to login with your original eve online credentials.

ie, the email and password you used to sign up before. You need to buy the game through Steam if you want to use the Steam subscription.

The thing is that i originally bought the game from steam. Back a year ago, there was no starter pack from steam, there was online the base game with 30 days of game time that you could purchase.

I think I might have found something explaining all this, or at least in part. Following this discussion I decided to send a steam support ticket for this game in hope of getting some help. Unfortunatly, after clicking the send ticket button, I got a message saying that the CD key used to identify my copy of the game is invalid.

Just use your old EVE account credentials on the main EVE website and see if you can log in. Any EVE accounts made prior to June 2013 or so follow out-of-Steam billing rules.

CCP NEVER deletes your account/things unless you do something illegal, like hack the game.

The only EvE account credentials I remember I had was a trial account i got before buying the game on steam, and it says that I don't have any characters on that particular account. I really don't remember what kind of credentials could have been linked to this account since most of the time it was done automatically.

Okay two things you can try:

1. Go to the EVE site, and try to use your Steam login info to log in there. This should be safe, even if it doesn't work. Just make sure you're on the actual, official EVE site.
2. Go through the steps to recover your account name/password, if you remember the email address you used to sign up the time you did it through Steam.

Okay, so I found out that it's possible to recover a lost account by going through the support ticket system on the eve online website. I did so and I hope to hear from them soon. Thanks for the information everyone.

Just a piece of advice mate i thought i'd share. Dont get too attached to an mmo account. Its only a virtual world & bunch of pixels afterall. The amount of accounts i lost over the years in mmo's, due to hacking for example & other reasons is baffling. But i had no issues starting over. Afterall its just a game not a real life achievement mate :).

Oh yes i totally understand, maybe the word ''depressing'' was a bit too much as it would have been more of a bummer than anything. And I was able to retrieve the account through the lost account support ticket. :D

Well in other MMO's losing a character isn't that big a deal but in EVE you can lose years of RL commitment (skill training) that you would have to wait for an equally long time to get back.
Other things on your account are expendable but skill points aren't which is why we vets make such a fuss about losing you pod in an un-upgraded clone.
