EVE Online

EVE Online

This Game is World of Warcraft in Space.
I tried this game some time ago, and it's basically World of Warcraft in space.

Correction: It's worse than World of Warcraft in space.

Okay, you have to use ships to get between continents in World of Warcraft. However, it's possible, in WoW, to skip using ships and to invade other territories through unconventional means.

Also, in general, if you're in one of your faction-controlled areas in World of Warcraft, you're safe.

In Eve Online, you have these warp gate things, and there's no way between the different areas of the game except by them. And everyone has to pass through them. Furthermore, you can be attacked by virtually anyone at any time. There is no safety.

In World of Warcraft, your level, your equipment, your build, and your ability to button mash (in that order) determines if you will be able to win any fight - especially in PvP.

In Eve Online, it's exactly the same way.

Now Eve Online players will delude themselves and try to convince you the game requires an immense amount of skill to play.

They're lying.

Those same players that defend this game tend to not want to enter a game like Metal Drift to prove how skilled they are, generally because they don't have any skill to play a game like Metal Drift.

Eve Online players claim Eve Online is Frontier. Again, they're lying. Or, if I want to be generous, ignorant.

Frontier had no warp gates. Finding people in a solar system was rough, even if you knew where they went. It could take days of real time to get anywhere - that's how big the game world was. And you could always hyperspace out of a fight, leaving your opponent way behind.

Furthermore, Frontier was twitch based. Depending on how well you could point your ship at the target and time pulling the trigger determined how often and how much damage you did to your opponent. There was none of this "gunnery skill" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you see in Eve Online, because the player was the gunner!

While equipment was important in Frontier (there's no denying that slicing opponents in half by waving a super heavy beam laser all over the place is much easier than carefully targeting and firing a low power pulse laser) it was still possible for a new player with enormous skill to take out much larger ships.

In Metal Drift, we've seen new players show up that pwn all the asses of us veterans. Our ranking, our levels ... none of that mattered. All that matters in Metal Drift is your ability to do whatever it is you do best in the game.

Eve is just about your level, your gear, your build, and button mashing. In a way, I'm surprised there isn't a "HealBot" like mod for Eve Online ... only for combat.

HealBot, in World of Warcraft, showed you everyone in your party. It was generally used, as the name implies, by the healers. Instead of actively targeting the party member who needed the heals, then casting the heal on them, HealBot allowed you to use a single click to do that. Combined with the keyboard, you could cast a variety of heals on a single target very quickly, each with a single click.

In Eve Online, you could essentially do the same thing. The HUD would show a list of buttons, each containing the name of a target in your area, and each target could have some way of showing a variety of base stats that you can get on them. And you could simply click the target, using some keyboard combination, and your ship, in all your glorious "combat skill," would automatically target them, fire the selected weapons at the target, and, based on your gunnery skill, hit them. Then you would do damage based on your equipment.

If a game can be played by clicking cells on a spreadsheet, then it might not be a game that requires much skill at all, and it should advertise itself as exactly what it is: World of Warcraft In Space!

If, on the other hand, you enjoy games of this nature, then by all means, go ahead and play it. I certainly won't hold it against you.

But to claim it's Frontier, or to say it requires skills like Metal Drift, is a total fallacy. Unless you like World of Warcraft In Space, Eve Online probably is not for you.

Because there's no way for Steam to know you own a non-Steam version of the game. Kind of obvious, don't you think?

Ps, you wanna see something that takes skill? = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdLh1emCMFM

That takes personal skill, and yes, its me.

Ps, you wanna see something that is spam?

That takes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and yes, it's me.
I added it to library as non steam.
basic AI would enable me...guess steam is sightless..

You only have full posting privileges for a game's Steam forums when you actually own the game through Steam. Since you have the non-Steam version of EVE, it won't allow you to have full posting privileges even if you add it to your library as an external product.

Though my first reply still stands valid, because it's extremely easy to create a fake executable.

Have you even played eve? ive been playing for ten years. And we like to weed out those players like you who prefer the saftey of wow and similar mmo models.

Elitists that like to "weed out" certain players will quickly discover that they have destroyed their own game.
no, the only group destroying EVE is goonswarm, which is funny because they are anti-elitist, in that they ENCOURAGE anyone and everyone to join and be equally atrocious at life.

no, the groups that "weed out" players, dont do it indiscriminately, they look for the players who will never be happy with EVE as EVE, and encourage them to find a game more akin to their style/personality, like Hello Kitty Online, while players that show promise very quickly get nabbedand taught just which end of the gun to point at whom.
Phileska, I think you know nothing about eve online. How can you compare eve online with wow? Wow is like a child game with stupid blizzard restrictions. Also Wow died after the lich king expansion.
The OP is an obvious troll.

I've been playing EVE and WoW *concurrently* for the past 7 years. Except for the fact that they are both MMORPGS, they are quite different in almost every respect. Switching between them provides me with remarkably different experiences--maybe that's why I've played them both for so long without getting bored
Having played both games for quite some time, the one thing I *am* sure of is that the OP hasn't.

What an absurd post...
the differns between eve and WoW is age..
the avrage age in eve is much higher then that of WoW.
eve is much more complex. i have been playing eve now for 10 years and i`m still leuring.. there is no endgame... there is no ultimate armor...
WoW was fun for me at the time but never came further then lvl 80.
