friends list?!?!?

So, no friends list, or even a way to be able to tell when a friend is online or when they come online. something to be able to open quick conversations would be nice too.

There is and it's called "contacts" list or you can create a private channel where your friends automatically log in when they come online.
I periodically used contacts list for fun to track which cyno alt if which super cap pilot in which alliance was online back in the days when you had only a handful super caps, today that number would be in hunreds ...

OH, andwell your answering questions, think you could tell me when the server comes back online

Click the little speech bubble icon in the chat window. There you can enter the name of the channel you're looking for, and if one with that name doesn't exist, it will be created with you as the owner. You can moderate it by right clicking the tab name.

Servers go down at 11 GMT every day for about 15 minutes of downtime.
