Please use your EVE username / password

After winning the Holiday Auction for a copy of EVE Online Premium Edition, and starting up the game, I've been getting an error saying "Please use your EVE username / password". The thing is, I don't have one. Could someone help me out? Thanks

The only thing that CCP might be able to do is fire off an e-mail to Valve to let them know of the problem. They don't have access to Valve's systems, and therefore can't verify or force Steam transactions. That's why I said earlier to contact Steam support. CCP is just going to do the same thing, like they have done earlier when this issue has popped up in the past, and you guys are going to start raging because "no one is helping."

Clearly this phenomenon is a problem on both Valve and CCP's end. While Valve definitely can help us, it's almost entirely CCP's fault that the game they put on steam cannot be gifted without becoming unplayable. Because of that, and my increasing frusteration, I'll file tickets with both. CCP better do alot more than fire off an email to valve if their game can barely interact with Steam and is turning off potential customers because of their lazy "port".

CCP isn't blameless for their lack of oversight on the whole process, but what goes on in the Steam store is entirely up to Valve. It's fine to file a ticket with CCP as well, but Valve is the only party that can actually fix anything in this case. They're going to need to remove existing EVE entries in peoples' libraries, and then force new transactions that actually initiate the account creation process.

No. Neither CCP or Valve/Steam support messaged me. I just went to check the game once more and out of the blue it greeted me with the welcome message

Umm, you blew that way out of proportion Bismark. I'm just as angry as the rest of you, and I just keep on hoping that valve and CCP will do something about this soon

got a reply from ccp support:


"We are looking into this issue with our sales department and hopefully we'll be able to provide some information on this soon.
The issue is simply that gifting of EVE Online does not work through Steam (due to restrictions on their end) and this was nevertheless the way they used to distribute these auctioned packs.
Essentially there is nothing we can do on our end since we can not enable gifting on Steam or provide new packs of this type. And Steam linked EVE accounts have to be generated through Steam.
But again we'll let you know as soon as we have some more information."

Steam support answered me with an automatic message, telling me to suppress all the caches of steam and launching Steam as administrator...

The game is obviously still not working.

They realy think we are idiots...
