Yes, you need a lot of time just to learn how the universe works and figure out a way to make good money or do something fun. i can guide you personally in the right way
Just dont focus at the beginig on the money on your wallet. Be patient and this game will grow on you.
i also have a job and play very littlle but im able to make enough money to pay for for the sub with in game money
yes im looking for some PvE and some mining/crafting
ok mining is kinda boring but gives you time to play on the markets wich is necessary. Crafting/industry is really impresive and complicated in this game.
You dont even need to pay for anything right now but soon or later you will want more and with more i mean just like everyone else.
add me of you want some company
I've been having a blast even with the starter phase. This game is a slow burner, so having that mentality is a start. We don't mean that as a negative as you can still do many things with starting skills and most of the first levels take mins or hours. Giving you the ability to start dipping your feet in some ships. ( I got omega after three days of playing since I already knew I can get into it.)
To reiterate what is said many times throughout posts, answers. Do the Agent Missions, gives you a good start into understanding your controls, ui, etc. The Rookie help chat is nothing but great when it comes to help. Another thing I would suggest as well is do some research on the starter corps, they have wealth of information and help. It really does change the pace of the game since they will have ways to start making money for you. (I joined a Wormhole Corp, and its been nothing but fun learning the in's and out of living in an ever-changing environment.
Another key point is, research your answers. Eve university wiki have a wealth of information of the game. The game is very complex and learning will never stop. The game does also have a Note system if you access it from the very top left of the Neocom list of other apps that are not default listed on the banner. I would suggest taking notes, you don't have to but it helps me remember some good disciplines before they become memorable and move on.
Also, not if but when you get ganked, send them a invite to a conversation, asked him how it happened or why. Most of the people who have destroyed me have been nothing but helpful on how to be careful and even have reimbursed my ship! Know that they are some players out there who make the game look like its full with trolls, which any game will and the nature of the game brings that. But negativeness is usually louder than the positiveness. They're very helpful players out there, take the time to socialize and make connections.
As a person who has been getting older and time has become much harder to come by, this game is perfect. The game has good pacing in however you want to play, its not a race but a marathon.
Your skillpoints advance whether you're at your keyboard or asleep. How much ISK you need, and therefore how much time you dedicate towards generating it, really depends on what you want to do, and your game knowledge will increase in a linear fashion with time spent playing provided you are learning useful things in a constructive environment and how much you need again really depends on what you want to do.
You can play EVE with very minimal time investment and get a lot out of it, especially if you sign up with one of the larger alliances. They will ping on Discord for PvP and other fleet activities and either hand out ships for you to fly, or replace any ships you lose for free and you can just join them when you see said pings meaning you can be involved as much or as little as you want. Most of these alliances either have no activity quota or only need you to attend one or two of these a month.
And the PvP crowd will never let a PVE person last in this game
Considering that highsec is full of "PVE persons", hell there are whole groups of industrialists in nullsec or wormholes, I'd say you are trying to be quite dramatic. Did you accidentally wander into Ahbazon and lost your ship? The first rule of EVE is: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.
For OP, play for couple of days to weeks in highsec, then start shopping around for a nice corporation to join. Don't be afraid to wander off the beaten path, especially if you try something like exploration (which usually nets the most for a newer player), just fly cheap ships, and as long as you earn more than you lose, which should be like one nullsec/wormhole site, you will be perfectly okay.
Use an ingame channel Rookie Help to ask questions; people there are usually extremely helpful.
