EVE Online

How "New Player " (Noob) friendly is Eve online?
I'm thinking of buying this to try it out, but in all honesty I'm an idiot who can't catch onto games easily. So what I'm trying to say is, is the tutorial in depth, is there anything that takes a lot of effort and information hunting to understand, and is the player base itself helpful to new players.

Tutorials are in-depth, there are things that help new players, but you aren't going to like the game. If you can't catch on easily, you're going to find yourself the butt of a lot of scam activity (which is perfectly legal in EVE) and adapting to the fact that you can't trust anyone at all (not even yourself) makes it even harder.

Of course, once you've climbed over the dead bodies of your fellow newbies that have hung themselves from the learning cliff... you should be fine.

TL;DR -

Are you patient? If you're patient, then no matter how baka-stupid you are, you'll still get over the mountain at some point.

Anyways, the new player experience is pretty in-depth and refined, so you should be fine starting out. The game has a heavy focus on pvp, which is of course not covered by the tutorial (because it's such a dynamic activity), so you'll need to learn that on your own, and with the help of others.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them. I'll be glad to help.

Problem with EVE for new players is that it's quite unique so comparisons to other MMO's are shallow at best which means that anyone starting out cannot rely on what they know about traditional MMO's.
But I would say just try the buddy-trial either from the link in my profile (21-days), ordinary 14-days offer or the steam account option.
Now I don't have a time to help all the time, be online all the time or even be available to help even if I'm online but I can try to answer any questions that you might have.

That image was made long before the current version of the game, but it's still mostly true.

What makes EVE good is that the players create their own content simply by trying to survive. As a newbie you are going to hear about these massive wars in nullsec etc... don't worry about that. Just do the tutorials, never give anyone any money for any reason and join Red vs. Blue if you want to PvP.

it's ok for new player as long as you can find a good corp to play with
the problem is though, unlike other mmorpgs which has max level, so you can catch on after certain time, in eve, even the oldest player still far from maxing skills yet, so if you are 5 years behind, you'll always be 5 years behind elite players.

Ugh, I'm so tired of debunking this myth each time someone posts it. I should probably keep a response in a text file just for these posts.

Anyways, that's not right at all. The vet will be able to fly more ships and use more modules, but after a certain point, he won't be able to be more efficient than a newer player with those ships and modules. Only a certain amount of skills affects any given ship/setup, and if you specialize, you can reach maximum levels of efficiency relatively quickly. Sure, you might only be able to fly one race's battleships well when you're a year or two old, while the vet can fly all four races' equally well, but neither of you can use four different ships at a time, so it doesn't matter.

Also, you can use your brain smarts to make lots of money, and just flat-out buy a high-SP character from another player, legally, on the EVE forums.
