No ♥♥♥♥, rinky dink companies don't have massive servers hosting hundreds of thousands of peoples. Once you work in IT for a while you'll understand that PCs tend to ♥♥♥♥ up for literally no reason at all, because they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ computers.
If you lose training time, just open a reimbursement ticket through the in-game petition system when this is all over, and they should give you proper credit.
I played wow for years. About 24 times as many players. Never did I experience something like this.
Are you retarded? Almost every single tuesday maintenance took 2-3x longer than they estimated, and they had hundreds of servers to distribute the load, not one single server. This is also an authen issue and a website issue, of which Blizzard also had numerous events of failure. Blizzcon ticket sales, for example, which shut down the website repeatedly because they couldn't handle the load.
I played WoW since launch in '04, trust me, these issues happened to WoW aalll the time. It just wasn't as noticeable because it wouldn't effect every server.
A. Get to play or
B. Get a dark screen where I can hear the music in the backgroud and then two pop-ups display on top of each other after about 20 seconds that read "Socket closed" and I can either "restart" or "quit". (Both options just dump me back to the Launcher, by the way)
I have a recurring sub, my payment method is valid and current. In addition I have bought an additional PLEX so I could train another character at the same time as my main - yet, I can't get to either of them or do anything. Forget the "my training skills ran out" that most people are upset about. Though it is a VERY valid argument and one I'm not happy about either, it's not my main concern here.
To those who say they are transferring to CCP's account instead of STEAM I ask why should I have to go through the hassle of moving from STEAM to CCP in order to play a game that STEAM says they will provide if I pay them? I've upheld my end of the bargain - please uphold yours STEAM. And if it's going to take 48hrs to resolve, then for the love of ISK - TELL US! We are adults, most of us, we can at least respect an ETA as long as it's fair, explained as to why it is needed and then resolved within that timeframe. Even a "we don't know what's going on, but we are actively working it with CCP" is better than radio silence. So far the vast majority of us have heard nothing.
In the immortal words of Jubal Early - "Does that seem right to you?"
SIDE NOTE: I feel as though I'm being scammed by STEAM and CCP on this problem worse than those minerbumping.com losers in the Balle system.
I do find it weird though, looking at it in respect to entropy in a contoled system. It happened near the same week as the tournaments and yes (insert quote of other player on forum here) it is possible the problem is with the new addons for running the fights or that the problem won't be solved untill the fights are over (when the support isn't looking into running the skirmishes).
All I am trying to convey is that I don't believe it is all a "scam" or that the problem is either known or will be solved soon (in respects to Steam gamer patiance) and I don't believe that jumping to CCP and "fixing" the player's relative problem is that best way to solve a software issue.
Hopes that this is solved soon and that people try to stay on Steam (maybe get a "I'm sorry gift" later via CCP/Steam) and I wish you all choose what you think is right.

Oh and it has been 52 hours with only 100secs of play time for me, good thing I renewed 2 hours before it went down. (*high-fives self)
Steam, may we have an update on the situation at least? Thanks.
Just unplugged my ethernet cable, activated mobile tethering and it worked without even restarting steam client, just restarting the EVE launcher.
When going through my ISP, It actually fails to load a specific URI @ secure.eveonline.com. Not a DNS issue as far as i know, it seems related to routing or to some info stored inside Steam/CCP DB regarding the source subnet (not related to a single source IP afaik).
