rancorous researcher (2 of 5) code won't transmit

So I'm doing the rancorous researcher (2 of 5) mission, and I have the device in my cargohold, I'm in a ship that is allowed for the mission, and when I approach the indicated beacon, nothing happens. It's supposed to transmit a code, but it doesn't. NOTHING HAPPENS. Very frustrating. Please help.

You'd be better off asking this on the official forums, where there's more exposure (always do a Google search too, to see if it's a common issue). But I'll give it a shot: have you right-clicked both the object and the beacon to see if there are any "activate" or "use" options?

yup tried right-clicking on both. nothing. and I tried googling it and nothing as well.

Is there a cargo container inside the mission site where you can put the device in? Since that's what you usually do in missions such as this.
