honestly speaking getting started in EvE is slow.. and takes some time to build up.. the game can look pay to win.. but seeing how that fancy 100$ ship build you baught can die just as easily as a ship u spent 4 hours grinding to get.. you can easily argue agenst pay to win.. EvE is a leftover gem from the golden age of MMO gaming.. but of all honestly only idiots buy plex with $$ and cash it out for isk.. its very easy to make ingame money... also the learning curve is very steep... my Corp as a university program dedicated to helping new players out.. shoot me a message on Discord if u want a leg up Zach#9741..

buying plex as a new player may be a good idea.. as long as u dont blow it all on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and use it to learn the game faster with less grinding..(IE using it to replace cheap ships for pve and pvp) that is really the only situation i could see it being a bit pay to win..

the lovely thing about the pay to play macanic in EvE is it balances out.. theres always a guy with more time.. and another guy with more irl money.. and they blend in a sort of harmony in eve

what i did when i first started.. is i joined a university corp and spent that first 6 months learning and saying yolo (i died ALLOT lol).. 6 months later with the help of my peers and the amazing friends i have made i now also have the skills i need to do what i want and be effective!

another thing to keep in mind.. ships are more or less like consumables.. your going to endup with a stockpile of ships ready to go in your hanger to replace the last one you lost.. and then later you will endup collecting fancy toys and losing them and then collecting more! (hopefully taking toys from your foes along the way!)

regardless of your intent or play style there is a useful home for you in eve.. part of what makes it so brilliant

Starting the game was one of the most enjoyable periods for me, largely because the game world felt huge, epic, and mysterious and it was fun exploring all the various activities the game offered.

No, the game is not fun for beginners at all. It feels like a second job at some point. You can't do much by yourself. If you join big alliances - expect being called a worthless/replaceable piece of trash and pushed back into front line fight as a meatshield.

If you like to get big things - it is a huge ISK grind and skill wall.
A lot of jack..sses kill you in a mining ship and call it a PVP

I am still around
Mostly by myself

I don't really play anymore and only have 100 hours ingame so still a beginner. Only logon to queue up skills incase I come back to the game.

I had some fun with the game, enjoyed learning the systems. But also got annoyed as ♥♥♥♥ at some systems.
It's up to you to find fun in the game IMO

Joining a decent active corp has the same process has IRL job interviews. Pretty much fill out a CV. have a voice interview, then we'll get back to you in couple days.

I understand this game has spies, but my god this put me off. I just wanted some people to play the game with and learn more
Ended up getting accepted which I then turned down and stayed solo

I didn't find it very fun, given how the skill systems works (you can get erverything, it just takes forever, lontime players have the advantage of being able to adapt to all roles).
If they ever had a server reset (which would be really healthy for the game) I would probably consider playing again.

Since eve is a sandbox type game, its as fun as you make it. Talk to people, join a small corporation (50-100 players) learn to play, find out what activities you enjoy. Do not seclude yourself to being a solo player in an MMO like so many people do.
Pay to win? I would not say so, you can buy a big ass expensive ship, you can buy the skill injectors to get your self behind the wheel, but you will not be able to fly it without experience and it wont survive without corp mates.
The subscription fee is well worth paying, but be sure you complete all tutorials as an alpha before you go any further. Understand what it is you enjoy and make sure this is the game for you before putting your hand in your pocket

Be honest and say it,

This game has blobbing problem. No one will engage you unless they for sure know they win.
Biggest group can escalate things infinitely long and make each step more severe or even crush you before anything even started. Whoever has more ships on grid are most likely or for sure to win.

You are not allowed to have nice things, you are not allowed to do or have nearly anything without any lunatic going around and ready to ruin your day.

This game is being tailored for certain group of people completely disregarding others as a meat for their grinder.

Its not for you, that one comes clear.
