Did I screw up already? XD
So, I downloaded the game through Steam but then found out about these 1,000,000 sp giveaways. I click on the link but it wants me to download the game again. How do I get the million sp when the game is already installed?

no haha, you just need to create the new account using the link, The launcher allow you to enter more than one account.

Run the game using steam and log in with the other account

It's screwed up...I registered my account already and now only have a login button. I'll send them a ticket and let them sort it out.

Yeah just create a new account. You can even use your same email. There's no limit to the amount of accounts you can have. But I would definitely make use of the 1 mil free skill points. It can put you a nice ways ahead of the grind. Just sit on them for a while, they're not going anywhere. It's better to use them towards something you know you need, rather than just spend them frivolously as a new player without much knowledge of the game.

Check the "Magic 14" skills if you need help. These will benefit you in many ways and open up many paths to new modules and ships to boot. https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/The_Magic_14

Other than that, getting certain ships to lvl 5 will help a lot too, especially if you're looking into T2 ships. Want to fly an Assault Frigate? Well you are going to need Frigates V. Want a Tactical destroyer, well you guessed it, you need Destroyers V. And so on.

That is gonna take days if not weeks. Just create a totally new account using the link. its faster.

The link is to download the game, not to login.

Incorrect.
Alphas can use tech 2 weapons up to the medium level.

As others have said, you can use the Steam EVE installation to play on non-Steam EVE accounts. You can also install the standalone version, which will use the same shared cache folder (you might have to point it to the proper location during the installation if it doesn't auto-detect it), so the extra download will be minimal.

One important thing to mention about the referral bonus:

If you're planning to play the game for free for a period of time, then do not redeem the 1,000,000 skill points into your character, because that will count against your free 5,000,000 skill point training limit. Let it sit in the redemption queue until it's time to claim it, since it won't expire.

If you go Omega right off the bat and keep Omega active until past the first 5,000,000 skill points trained, then it makes no difference.

PS: avoid mining - train for combat only on your first character.

If you don't believe him, how about doing some research via Google or logging into the game to check for yourself, and then presenting some actual evidence of your claims?

Well, if they changed the game recently, then I apologize. Last time I played as alpha, I couldn't use tech 2 weapons.
Unless you last played as an Alpha before 2017, then yes, you could. CCP updated the Alpha skill set at that time (a few months after the original clone state patch release) as part of a community feedback balancing pass.

Still, you made a concrete claim about something today without confirming whether or not it's actually valid, and that's wrong. Intentionally or not, you're spreading false information, which can hurt new or potential players.

Hurting new players would include insulting them too, would it not? Hypocrite. Get off your high horse. I'm not scaring away precious customers. The player was asking about 1,000,000 skill points and I was trying to make the point that it doesn't ultimately matter because an alpha player isn't "designed" to go far in this game. Is "up to the "medium" level"" an official CCP EVE game term or is that Google-able?
No one has insulted anyone, so you get off yours.

All you've done here is spread a bunch of false information to try to steer people away from the game, and not just with regard to the Alpha training, but by trying to spread your victim mentality like a virus.

Just because you got your "posterior handed to you" doesn't mean that others will. Stop deceiving people.

Tech 2 Medium Turrets (Energy, Hybrid, and Projectile)
Tech 2 Heavy Missiles (Assault and Normal Variety)

Alphas cannot use Tech 2 Large weapons (turrets, torpedoes, and cruise missiles).

Yeah, you do insult new players. That's why you got banned temporarily from here and possibly other game threads. I've never been banned once on Steam for anything.
I got banned for a comedic "North Korea" post, and not for "insulting new players." Once again, more misinformation.

There are a bunch of people following me around these forums and mass-reporting reporting every single one of my posts because they dislike my stance on EVE (this has been directly confirmed by higher authorities at this point), and that's the one that "stuck" with Steam support, who issued the ban. Don't talk about things you don't know.

If I came across as negative, I wasn't trying to scare you away from the game. Shotgun here is just following me around and looking to discredit me and make me look like a troll. If you enjoy playing this game and you want to stick with it, it is a fun game but don't kid yourself. It's a tough game and when you aren't playing, you will have to watch tons of YouTube videos and visit lots of websites to learn this game. I'm not going to sugar-coat it for a new player like Shotgun here.

You will need tens of millions of skill points worth of skills to be able to enjoy a lot more content than just mining and other "grindy" tasks. If you join a good player corp (which i didn't do), it will be easier if they aren't trying to just take advantage of you.

Anything goes in this game, short of making real life threats. Remember that I was the one who told you that when you start experiencing some of the tough stuff in this game. View the EVE universe as Mos Eisley on steroids. :)

No worries, friendo! I played this game for a couple weeks at launch...at one point I kept getting ganked every time I tried to do a mission. Lost all my ships and couldn't continue. So, yeah, it's a tough game to get into. Thanks for your help!

Well, in case you didn't know, I was reading lots of posts you made both before I played this game and after and there are plenty of posts of you insulting other players. I dont need to hunt for them and post the links. Anyone who has been following EVE Online General discussions has your number. That's just a saying we have here in North America which means, they know what you are.
No, when you accuse someone of something, it's customary to provide evidence as proof. Isn't that also something that "you have there in North America"?

Mind sharing your character's name? Something about that doesn't seem right, and I want to check kill board records to see what kind of issue with ganking you had.

Well for openers, you did post a copy of a ban on your profile for insults, did you not? Let's start there.
Stop moving the goalposts.
