What an outright disgusting and borderline criminal predatory monetization of new players in their most vulnerable moment in-game.

Yeah, people aren't happy on the official forums either.

This is definitely a low point for CCP.
Yup I'm active there and also checked up on the related r/Eve thread as well. The uproar is real on all platforms and for a good reason and the more platforms the pressure goes on the better chance CCP might rethink their ways thus posted this here to spread the word around. Hopefully these practices will not become the norm. We'll see.

Edit: The more people express their dissatisfaction over this the better the chance to alter the way CCP wants to monetize the game.

It kind of feels like they're trying to pump up their quarterly earnings with really big package deals to front-load their revenues. Maybe some big bonuses are on the line for the execs?

Try to play with you brain, not with your wallet.
CCP and ganker likes PLEX tank players :)

Looks like a mobile game ad.
Whoever they recently hired in marketing needs to go.

Yep, a great thing to see as a new player. But then again, i can ignore these things too, but it no less feels scummy.

I've played this game for about 5 hours now and i really hope it is not going to be some pay to win cashgrab.

I don't know if this is them trying to "soften the blow" for new players for losing a ship or something. If it is they're doing it wrong

It's not really pay-to-win (the marketing even hilariously tells you how you can replace a loss, as opposed to purchase a win), but it definitely is a cash-grab. Unfortunately, that's the direction they're going in, which pains me to admit as a long-time player.

It really is a terrible marketing angle they're going for.

I just checked the forums and this seems to pop up after a player loses their first ship. That's not the place to put this ad to impress a new player. Or anywhere else for that matter but especially not that.

Yeah, scummy ad. I find that a lot of Eve's ads are manipulative. But then again, most ads you see everywhere are lies that try to oversell their product, and you end up with a piece of ♥♥♥♥. It's unfortunate we live in such a world.

I wouldn't call this game pay to win, but it certainly is designed to make you want to spend real money. The biggest P2W aspect is the 5 mil Skill Point limit for Alphas, that essentially stops your progression. That said, if you know what you're doing, you can allocate your skills to be effective within that 5 mil limit, and then continue to make money and PvP within the game if you wish.

Nah, it's scum, lol. Anyone who's been playing for decent amount of time would see right through this. It's preying on new players, imo. "Get Revenge!" ???? Any newbe who falls into that trap will likely think he can throw a bunch of money at this game and make a super ship. Then he takes his super ship to exact his "revenge" only to have all that money go up in smoke, 5 seconds longer than it took his first ship to pop...

All that ad has accomplished is to make new players resent them, and old players shake their heads at it.

What I don't get is that CCP seems to push plex much harder than Omega, guess they know most new people leave the game after 6 months and they make more selling those players a couple of stupid plex packages before they leave the game, instead of trying to retain them by adding new game mechanics.

I.. wow, surely it isn't?

Cos that's scummy, like EA levels of scummy.. is the playerbase suffering that badly that they've now turned to this kind of garbage or did they finally stop pretending that they actually gave a damn?

Damn shame, really is.. granted i haven't played this in a long while but i don't think CCP was this desperate few years ago.. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:
