Best skills to train for Amarr Military route - Alpha?
As the title says... I am pretty new, done the tutorial and chosen the military route. Done a couple of the first missions at the university, about 5/10, and got my first ship upgrade. Trained something to do with capacitors as I needed it to use all the kit I got from the very early quests. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best skills to queue up?

Options available for an alpha only at this stage please - the universe feels very immersive initially (stay up late, turn out the lights, beam me up), but I want to spend a bit of time in the game before I decide whether to spend any money on it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I do not know alpha limits off the top of my head, but focus on the core skills first, or at least keep them in mind.

Power grid, capaciter, etc. all the stuff in the engineering tab. For amarr ships in paticular, capaciter is very important. As you fire lasers, you use up capaciter power, so the better those skills are, the more you can shoot without issues. Hope that makes sense.

I also recommend you look up some new player friendly groups such as EVE University, or chat with people in the starter systems. Sometimes older players hang out there to help new players.

I know this might be a bit advanced so early on, but keep one thing in mind: you can only train free Alpha skills until you reach 5,000,000 skill points. At that point, you can still use Daily Alpha Injectors to keep training Alpha skills until about 20,000,000 skill points, but those will either cost ISK or real money.

If you want to play for free, you need to make sure that your training is very focused. Alpha limitations take care of a lot of that for you in the sense that you won't accidentally train some advanced skill you don't need, but still, make sure that what you're training is relevant to Amarr and combat. That means Amarr ships, laser and gunnery support skills, and support skills in the armor, engineering, navigation, scanning, and targeting categories. Although some Amarr ships use missiles and drones, due to Alpha limitations, I suggest you focus on gunnery only. If you reach ~4,000,000 skill points and run out of major stuff to train, you can go for drone skills at that point.

If you are unsure about a skill, ask here first.

Thanks for the tips! I have completed all the career introductions and a few agent missions. Now in a punisher and been focusing on capacitor/power grid, manoeuvres, armour, laser turrets and finding my way around the system. Did the same mission twice, got pwned the first time and breezed it the second time a couple days later, so the stuff I’m training and upgrading must be working. There have been some nice folks on world chat helping out as well, so far so good :)

The "Rookie Help" channel should be automatically open for you, so ask questions there. I've observed that the advice there is passable, generally-speaking.

Also make sure to search Google for any questions you have. There are many guides out there that will give you the info you need. Here's a very comprehensive wiki that should be your first stop for answers:

Thanks, yeah I’m using that site all the time. Appreciate the advice.
