Thanks for the tips. I actually don't have any friends in the game hahaha. And scouting on an alt just seems tedious. What, do you have to log off, log on, travel to the gate, then do it all over again on your main? I think I'll try to fit my ship with that align and burn time.
I never heard of in-line smart-bombing battleships. I'm guessing they can kill you in that 1 second before the gate warp? Lol
Yup. Smartbombs do periodic AoE damage. As you're coming out of warp upon arrival to the target gate, you take a few volleys. If your EHP is very high, you will survive because they don't do a lot of damage, but for smaller and/or unbuffered ships, it is deadly. I myself lost a frigate once that way.
But if you approach the gate from an unexpected angle, this isn't a problem, because to have full gate coverage you would need a lot of people.
You can try to "travel-fit" your ship. Inertia stabilizers and low friction nozzle rigs will reduce the time it takes to warp (align time). If you can get it under 2 seconds, you can bypass 99% of gate camps since it usually requires at least 3 seconds to lock and scramble someone. Once you reach your destination, you can refit for PVE or whatever you plan to do.
There is also the "mwd cloak" trick. It's a bit complicated for newbies, but if you learn how to use it, you can bypass camps. https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Cloak_trick
You can also travel low sec in a pod. Pods can insta-warp, although they're vulnerable to smart bombs.
And yes, the moment you undock consider your ship lost. Just try to get the best value from it.
Also do some intel before you enter low. Open the map, check statistics - if there are many people and kills in the system it is most probably camped. To make sure, check the system name on zkillboard. It shows where exactly the kill occured. If you see 2-3 kills happened on a gate - it is 200% camped. If somewhere else - well, maybe it's some FW fights, or somebody is hunting ratters and miners.
Your best chance for survival (assuming you're not putting on an entire rack's worth of warp core stabs) might be something along the lines of an ECM burst and/or Target Spectrum Breaker. But that chance is slim regardless of what you do at that point.
I strongly advise if you're gonna play EVE to study the UniWiki. Tons of useful information. https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Combat_sites
I have mined and explored high-low and null sec. Null is the safest because it's random. This game give new players wrong impression every time. Go exploration, that's how I got my Scorpion (which get destroyed less than 2 hours later because i'm dumb at PvP) (ofc I don't play this game anymore)
pretty funny post here. did you think you were playing a pve game? how dare those evil bad guys blow up your ship. i mean what were they thinking? all noobs should be able to roam freely in a 300mil ship clearly. i mean this is a kiddie theme park game obviously. im guessing youre gonna go play a pve game now. well if you ever desire pvp and a challenge theres always EVE. i mean thats why i play the game. so if someone talks smack i can blow them up 200 times before i ask for an apology.

I somehow see your future work application.
