Always right-click > show info on a ship

It'll show you all the information you'll want to know, from the drone bandwidth of the ship to how much inertia it has, to how many slots it has available for high, medium, and low modules. The Mammoth should have one high slot module, so it can only fit one Miner on it.

If you're looking for a non-ORE alternative for mining, I'd suggest browsing the ship tree if you haven't already - compare the slots and cargo capacity of the industrial ships of each race to see which one might be the best "fit" for what you want to do.

Also, mining lasers take up a turret hardpoint, so even if the ship you wish to use has several high slots but only one turret hardpoint it will only take one mining laser.

Forgot about that important part.

I was just looking at the ships in question, all but one t1 industrial ships have only a single turret hardpoint.

The sole exception to this is the Hoarder, but it’s not suitable for mining as it has a small standard cargo and a specialized ammo hold.

The best industrial ship option is probably the Miasmos, as it gets a dedicated ore hold. That said, it has no mining bonuses and only a single laser.

So, if you’re dedicated to wanting to mine, the venture is the best early option. It can fit two mining lasers and gets bonuses to them.

It is, but whatever fits more ore for some.

I still see people mining in an Iteron.

Another noob question. How can I use a ship different from my race? I mean , looked for some in the ship tree , and saw that they are bit greyish and that fill-o-meter did not reach the ship. Am I supposed to do some contracts for the specific race or something?
As another question, saw that the ORE ones are the best, and I thought that they are omega only, but I did not see the omega symbol. I guess I have to play more than 500h to get it , but I am curious about how am I supposed to get that.

Otherwise, I might use venture for mining, I think its way better since I can use 2 mining lasers. The bad part that I consider, is the fact that I am loosing some space from the mammoth ( from the expand cargohold) but I think its not that big of a deal since venture is faster as speed, mining and I am getting bonuses for mining with it. As another another question, there are no ore hold expanders, aren't they ?

Thanks for telling me these stuff, I might ask some more ♥♥♥♥ soon, this game is really complex

You have to buy and train the skills for the other races ships. Look under spaceship command skills on the market.

Omega means you have a subscription, whether you pay for that with in-game methods or out of game is up to you.

There are no ore hold expanders, those a few ships receive skill bonuses to the size of their ore hold.

The venture is the only ORE ship that doesn't require a subscription to the game (iirc). Mining barges and other advance ORE ships will require certain skills only accessable to those that subscribe to the game.

On the show info panel for ships, one of the tabs will be named Requirements. This shows you the skills you need trained to pilot the ship. From there you can see if a listed skill is an omega skill or not.

As Harrison mentioned, to pilot an Amarr frigate you need to have skill trained in Amarr Frigate. To pilot a Caldari Frigate you need skill trained in Caldari Frigate, not Minmatar or Gallente since that's specifically for that Faction's frigate. Those skill books you can purchase and train rather quickly, and is a requirement for certain faction ships (Sisters of EVE, for example, require Amarr and Gallente ship skills to be trained).

Do note though, training multiple faction skills will lessen your overall available skill point cap - alpha clone players (free players) are limited to 5m skill points in free training. Anything after that will require daily alpha injectors or a subscription.
Free Alpha Skill Training will stop when a character reaches 5 million total skill points.

Training after 5 million skill points works normally, that is, you can train skills with Omega time or Skill Injectors. Any skills you’ve previously trained which fall under the Alpha set can be used at any time, regardless of Clone State. It looks like this:

So it might be better to focus more on your faction unless you need to branch out to another faction for a ship.

I see. At the moment I see the omega as a must. It is true that I played 20 hours only , but seeing the opportunities to have those ships and skills, and maybe much more. Sadly its way to expensive, but I don't think that I will ever buy omega. I mean , you do get loads of stuff, but you can do almost everything with the non omega ships. Maybe after many hours I will understand the game better

There is a lot that can be done as a free account, so holding off on subscribing is perfectly fine. The only immediate issue with being a free player is that soft cap on skill training. If you don't plan to buy them with PLEX (which does go on sale occasinally), you're looking at roughly 50,000,000 ISK to 60,000,000 ISK.

So long as you're making more money than spending, it won't be too much of an issue. Just don't try to burn yourself out.
