OP, not quite sure what your problem/experience is, but spewing ♥♥♥♥ about how every newbro in nullsec is going to be scammed is quite stupid. As long as the nullsec group provides newbies with some guidance, either via mentors, guides or even general help in the corp, and as long as newbies use a bit of brain, they would learn much faster than in highsec. There are literally armies of newbies in null in every major power block, are they all being scammed?
Frankly, null is currently very boring and in current meta there is a lot of problems related specifically to newbies - but this is not one of them. I believe the main issue with newbies is that they expect that this is a game like every other, and that it doesn't matter which corp they'd choose, as they are all just a glorified chat window. Well, they aren't. Most of the _real_ newbie specialised corporations have guides and/or have members used to guide and help newbies, because EVE is a game of numbers : N+1 wins, and having more newbies is much more useful than not having them.
This doesn't mean that everyone has to move to null, of course. I just hate when someone doesn't do enough research and then blames others for his bad choice.
Zen has more experience than I do, but the most immediate I can think of is if a newbro wants to mine they're waiting on someone else to clear a belt for them (which is no problem if they're in an active corp). The rats in null hit hard compared to the ones in highsec, but as a result have good bounties.
I know for ratting in general the VNI (Vexor Navy Issue) is one drone ship that's apparently good at the job, but that'll take some time for a newbro to join.
There's others, but the majority of them are easily remedied be being in a corp that's actually active and newbro friendly (having the resources to help them get settled to the game).
Previously there was multiple coalitions you could've joined. Nowadays it's generally two blocks: Northerners (GOTG, NC., PH, TRI, skill urself, FRT) and Southerners (TEST, Goons). Obviously there's more Southerners than Northerners, despite of more alliances being in the North. Both sides tend to use as many HACs , T3Cs and other very skill intensive ships as possible. Goon and test newbies are being pushed into rorquals as fast as possible, including skill injectors and such; this doesn't mean they can't do anything else, but generally in Southern space you are expected to mine in rorqs, preferrably multiple. Northerners do not care about newbies at all, with the exception of PH, and they simply treat them as veterans with the same expectations in fleets. Northerners have lost the war, so apparently that approach is obsoleted.
So this means multiple issues for newbies:
First, as a newbie you're being funneled into mining. Even the newbie tutorial ends up with "here you have a venture and a bpc, make your own ship". There is quite a peer pressure to advance to rorquals as soon as possible (hey, this guy is playing for a month and he already earns XYZ milliions in a rorq, I have to do the same). But what if you want to pew pew or explore?
Second, the (freshly finished) war demanded T3destros, HACs or better. I haven't seen a single FYF from goons, which is usually aimed at newbies (FYF = t1 ewar frigs or ewar cruisers, exclusively), and there was little understanding for flying T1 ships generally in Northern fleets as well.
Third, everyone and his mother seems to have titans in the game, and unlike a battleship vs frigates, you can't really kill a titan in a reasonable time with a bunch of small ships.
If the situation continues, all the effort newbie friendly groups spent (knowingly or not) to lower the bar for joining nullsec fleets might soon take a hit.
There might be _probably_ going to be a war between PH and GOTG (civil war in the North as a result of the defeat). PH is a newbie friendly alliance, GOTG is mostly veteran alliance. We will see how that goes.
Thanks heh. A belt can be cleared in a random cruiser - our newbies have done it several times. I have some PH and I think Karma? or BNI? fits for ratting in a brawler destroyer, so it's apparently possible as well. Newbies can (and should) also spend some time doing exploration, they really need just a t1 frigate and a lot of patience. At least until they get the skills for a cruiser/VNI/procurer/whatever.
Also just to add to this - specifically our corp didn't use to recruit fresh newbies, or at least we asked them to stay in highsec for couple of days, so that they can fly at least that crusier/procurer. Getting few hours old newbies like newbie powerhouses do, can be a bit dangerous , especially if those guys move to null immediately.
While high sec incursions are great for income. Ever see the yield of a nullsec incursion running 50mil sites every 10 mins?
Stay safe at high sec lads and haul in that sweet sweeet sweet ISK. Look at the amount of butthurt on this topic ,lol. They afraid easy nub ganks will stop coming.
Some peoples here make it seem like a crime of some sort to learn the game in relative safety of Highsec. Well its not.
You see they want you to come with youre t1 cruiser with minimal skill so they can get easy and safe kill posts from youre sorry ass. Dont get fooled stay High!
If compared to MMORPG's they want you to bring youre lvl 5 nub char with ♥♥♥♥ green gear to a horde og max level 100 players with pimped out gear, locations and feel good while praying on youre sorry ass. This is the truth! Dont be the fool!
I newer said they cant kill you in highsec, now did i?
If one doesent jump in to volkano with jimmy C he has tools to rock a corvette in rubba dub rhyme. Hell one could even argue that if one uses trouses he has pants on . Its easy, come low sec.
